If its making a metal on metal sound then you need to turn down the rotor or replace the rotor. you should turn down the rotor at least anyway else the new pads are going to wear down quicker, and the surface of the rotor doesn’t match the new pads, so the braking power is diminished….
Don’t you have to turn the piston to get it to go back in? I had to do that on my old 2000 maxima on the rear caliper piston.
