Hi Tyler. I have a 96 1500 Ram Van 5.2. I have to replace a corroded
freeze plug, but a mechanic I use to do stuff I can’t told me the radiator
was going to need replacing soon. I looked at videos for the freeze plug
and I think I can do it (bought brass replacement already) and I think I
can do the radiator. There is a guy parting out a 96 van here locally and
I am going to get some extra head lights, tail lights, mirrors etc, real
cheap for all. He said he would include the radiator. Would I be stupid
for putting in a used radiator? Also, the old man who owned the truck
before me must have ran only water in it because I can flush it and it
turns brown in just a little while. Is there any way to clean that up as I
am going to be doing a radiator and a freeze plug? Also, I have looked
into new radiators, Auto Zone is $175 and another performance place is
$202. They are both plastic and aluminum. Why so expensive?
That car has just as much clearance between the engine, and the radiator as
my Dakota does. At least you have nuts holding the fan on the pulley. On
my Dakota you have to loosen the entire fan with a large wrench, and
unscrew it of the waterpump shaft. Yeah i love Ebay too for parts, but
certain stuff i would rather buy at a parts store.
You mean you actually do your OWN work on your OWN cars? I figured maybe
you had one of your favorite residents come over and do it for ya. Lol just
kiddin.
Good ‘hands-on’ video! Good price on that radiator too! Can’t hardly beat
that. I’ve seen plastic radiators literally explode apart from pressure and
fatigued aged plastic.
