ive been told that if the belt breaks or jumps time that it will bend some or all of the valves. is this true? thanx
Nice video. The Hyundai looks fairly simple to work on. No stupid torx bolts.
nice video help me a lot
I like the way he pronounced Hyundai. “2009 Hi Un Day accent “
That sucks…wonder if you got it? I have used heat on the bolt, but you need to be careful and let it cool down, if it gets to hot and you try to break it loose you could maybe break the bolt. how are you holding the crankshaft to keep it from turning? Find a hollow pipe and fit it over your breaker bar to give you more leverage.
can you let me know how to remove the crankshaft bolt on a 2000 accent? have been trying for a few days rattle gun and breaker bars aint helping
You should be able to get this done for under $500
i meant 500 or less then ill be happy to have it done 1000 bucks though forget it go till it blows so say we all
@gereral1 have you considered how much it would cost to pay someone to do the job i know i really don’t want to try this myself it depends on price if its 500 or under ill pay ver 1000 th th
we are having problems with ours misfiring and i cant find a hanes manual for it anywhere all i need to know is which cylinder is which i know the pattern is 1342. do u have any idea ?? is it the same as the pattern ??

by the way i changed all the belts except timing belt. what a pain trying to get the 3 belts off. trying to reach the alternator loosing screw , hardly and room for a ratchet. had to use a flare rench, took along time. also had to retighten power steering belt a day later because the deflection was more the 1/4 inch. wish hyundai would but the same adjustment screw on the power steering pump as well
can u post a video how to flush coolant for this vehicle, thks
there are strap wrenches that work well to hold the pulley while you break loose the bolt. Another tool I have seen – take out a spark plug and screw in the tool and it will keep the piston from moving, then you can break loose the bolt.

What would you suggest to hold the engine from spinning while taking off and putting on the bolt without an impact rench? I have a gls 4 door automatic 2009 hyundai accent
I did not need to use any special pullers to get the crank pulley off. For me it pulled off and pushed on with no problems. About 105 FtLbs of torque for crank pulley bolt. About 65 Ft Lbs for the Camshaft pulley.
Thankyou for uploading this, I will be doing my timing belt on this exact same car i the summer of 2013. My car has only 3 years 60 thos klm on it so every 4 years or 90 thos ill do it. Great to see my car in your video. What type of pulley tool you use to get eh harmonic balancer off? Also when installling the balancer did you use impact rench and bolt to put it on or did you use the special install tool?
Well I think what you really need to look at is the torque rating for reverse, for taking bolt/nuts off. I have have Snap On / Blue Point only. I do not remember the brand but my boss has one with 1200 Ft Lbs of reverse torque, seems to handle every job we have around the shop…
Thanks for your reply. I now have two cheap impact wrenches and neither have any balls. The next one I buy is going to be a 3/4″ quality wrench. I’m thinking Ingersal Rand or Chicago Pneumatic. What do you use?
Yes, a higher powered impact gun is a good investment. 500-1000+ OFF ft. lbs of torque will do the trick for just about every Crank bolt out there. Otherwise the strap holding tool (check out other Honda timing belt videos) and a 1/2′ breaker bar should do the trick as well.
I’ve found that my 1/2″ (inexpensive generic) air impact wrench doesn’t seem to offer enough torque to get a tight bolt like a harmonic balancer bolt off, even when I jack pressure up to 110 psi…. 25 gal tank, 1/2″ short hose. Do you think higher quality air tools would make a difference?
