Great video! One of the best instructional videos I every watched. Got both rears to replace next weekend for my niece and having worked on older cars regulators before, this looks much simpler. Thank you for your help!

Lsailor1 says:

Sure! Just drill out the rivets and then use nuts, bolts and lock washers to replace the rivets on the new regulator. Thanks for watching my video!

Any clue how to take off the speaker to put onto the new metal regulator?

Steve Vargas says:

its a little confusing. i just want to get to where the outer handle is behind the metal panel and try to fix it.

Steve Vargas says:

what does the regulator look like and where do i find it?

Lsailor1 says:

Hey Steve, Thanks for watching my video. I assume you are talking about your outside handle? Look at my other video “replace 2006 Hyundai rear window regulator” There are several things that have to be done to get the regulator off. (1) Get window taped up (2) you need to lower the window lifting mechanism all the way down to the bottom. (3) There is a “three fingered” plastic piece on the backside of the regulator. Remove it by drilling out the rivets that hold it. Then pull regulator up.

Steve Vargas says:

ok so i just watched ur video again and see that u didnt mess with those flat gold pieces connected to the metal piece behind the metal panel. so how do i take the door panel off if those arent holding me back? i took all screws and gold bolts off but got stuck after that.
please help me understand how to do this i want to fix it myself.

Steve Vargas says:

i am trying to remove that metal inner panel because my door handle broke and i need to fix it but i cant get the metal panel off because there are two round flat gold pieces that are connected to a metal piece behind the metal panel . how do u get those off?

I scanned this slideshow , read the comments and gave another go at releasing the glass. Here is the trick that worked for me: I used one big screwdriver through the slot and another big screwdriver off to the side where I wedged it between the plastic lifter and the bottom of the glass. Judicious and gentle wiggling and it was free. Prior I was applying lots of pressure through the slot with no effect – you need to lift and separate!

Thanks, Got stuck at that point. Even drove it over to the Hyundai dealership. The Technicians there did not know how to do it either. I got it out after I ended up snapping the plastic tangs off of the left side. It gets replaced anyhow with a new regulator. I got a couple of photos of the plastic part I could not get off, I think the back, was bending and would not release the window. I can email those to you to add to your video. Just have to wait for the regulator. Thanks again!

After you remove the Phillips head screw, you need to use a flat blade screwdriver (of similar width to the slot), and carefully push in and wiggle the window at the same time and lift. If you do it properly, it will “pop” and be free. What you have is a round piece of plastic that goes thru a round hole in the glass. You are pushing that plastic out of the window with the screwdriver. If that doesn’t work, there is another way, but it is very complicated.

I am having troubles with disconnecting the Window using the wide Flat Blade Screw Driver
