I have this problem but when I connect jumper cables to the brand new battery in the back the car cranks but does not start and as soon as I disconnect the cables the car instantly dies.Could that be the alternator?

MAG E says:

What tool did you use to get the rear screw out behind the alternator? It's to tight a space for anything I have

Wow man, world would be a better place with more technicians like you! Liked and subscribed. I have a same exact 2011 3.8 Genesis. Here's my issue. I have OBD scanner connected reading voltage. It stays 14.1-14.2 at idle or when cruising. However drops as low as 11.9-12.3 when I would start moving from a dead stop or even if I rev it hard from idle. It then gets back up to 14.1. But every time I accelerate from the dead stop, it drops to around 12 volts.

Again at idle and while cruising it's consistent at 14.1-14.2
Where would you start diagnosing, what would be your prime suspect? Ground wire? Alternator wire itself?

Car runs and drives perfectly fine. Sat for 2 weeks and started right up. Daily driver. Just that weird voltage drop over 2 volts that I see every time I get off the line or rev at idle

Thank you! Any info is greatly appreciated!

I have a 2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 ,I’m having the issue where the seatbelt light blink 4 times with no sound and then the battery light will come on the shut off all together and then randomly start again over and over but not consistently I would say it shows up 4 times in a span of 6 min and then be fine for 30min (besides the tpms light being on )

What tools did you use to remove the alternator?

You are a good mechanic. I love how in depth you are!! Someone with little to no knowledge can understand everything. Thank you

Hello K!
I have the exact same issue right now with my Hyundai Genesis 2011 S 3.8. I took it to the dealership and they said that I need a new alternator (already replaced battery). However, they are charging me $1100. The representative said I do not have to get it done at the dealership but he recommends that the alternator is from the Hyundai factory as this car is not too compatible with non-factory parts. My question is, is there some place I can buy this exact alternator for my car? If so, once I buy it, would it be smarter to get it replaced at the dealership or at an auto body shop? (You need to remove the motor mount in order to put in alternator so labor work is expensive).
Thank you in advance!
