This video shows how I fixed the “Failed Try Again” install error on the Garmin Express Software. Here is a link to the Garmin Nuvi 2555 LMT that I use at Amazon: http://amzn.to/1oW92aL.

I was having no luck installing the Garmin Express and getting very
frustrated. I am computer challenged – but, I watched your video, took
notes and then gave it a try. It worked!!! I followed your instructions
to the letter! I am so happy. Thank you so much for sharing your
expertise on the subject. Much appreciated.
I am having this same problem installing it, and unfortunately your way did
not work for me,I have Windows 8.1, 64 bit, but thanks for taking the time
to show how you did it. If you know of any other solution, please let me
know.
Thank for sorting this out. It worked perfectly on my Win7-64 machine. I
found I didn’t need to reboot – I just switched users back and forth and it
only took 3-4 minutes.
Thank you for your helpful video – genius! I’m using windows 7 64 bit and
your fix worked after I disabled Norton firewall.
Thanks for the help, your advise was spot on. had to go the temp profile
route
Awesome! Worked for me today too with Garmin Express V3.2.26.0 – pretty
frustrating to have to do, but am glad to have found a solution. Edge 810,
vivofit
Thank you! i spent hours last night trying to figure out why it wouldn’t
install. your solution worked a charm!
Thank You! I bought the Garmin unit for my husband and neither of us could
complete the installation (using Windows 7 and 8). With your help, It
finally worked. Just wanted to add that we both DID have to block our
Norton firewalls & anti-virus. No more failures:)
Thanks for sharing! It worked for me without a problem on Windows 8.1.
Already tried uninstalling the security upgrade (as pointed out by Garmin)
for Windows 7 (other computer) but that wasn’t a solution.
Thanks again.
Can I use my Garmin without “Garmin Express”? Why is Garmin Express
important, if at all?
Thanks Richard. After trying everything the last past 6 months, staring
blind on ” Could not write value GarminExpressTrayApp to
SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun”
I finally fund your solution on the net. It did it for me. Thanks from out
here in Holland. It saved my Zumo 660
Richard you are a star! What should have taken me 5 minutes, took me 6
hours! Until I found you. Your advice worked with my Vista. Thank you
🙂 from Australia.
HI there, Im trying to download the Garmin Express for XP and I just can’t
do it, same error as you show. You explain that XP and other operating
systems have different problems, could you help please?? I am really
stucked
Brilliant!! You my man are a genius. I spent half the day trying to install
Garmin express on my Windows 8.1 system to no avail until I found your post
on a google search. It worked a treat. Thank you.
Thank you for this video what a great help will be sharing this with my
friends
Richard, you are a lifesaver and a genius. I was almost going to take my
new Garmin 2597LMT to the shop and tell them to stick it. I followed your
every step, and up and running. Thank you and thanks to You Tube for
allowing these sort of entries.

After more searching and trying I found this that has at least worked for
now, on the Garmin forum :
https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?98329-Can-t-install-Garmin-express-on-windows-7-x64-Failed-Try-Again
If anybody else is desperate like me, maybe this will work.
In some cases depending on how the security software is setup along with
User Account permissions can cause issues with what has been described. One
thing you can try is forcing access to allow the Garmin Core Services to be
allowed through to the internet.
1. Press the Windows key+R
2. Type “services.msc” and press Enter
3. Locate and right-click Garmin Core Update Service
4. Click Properties
5. Click on Log On tab
6. Select This account
7. Click Browse
8. Type Network Service
9. Click Check Names
10. Click OK
11. Remove all text from both password fields
12. Click OK
13. Click OK again
14. Right-click Garmin Core Update Service and Click Stop
15. Right-click Garmin Core Update Service and Click Start
NOTE: This is not a permanent fix. These steps must be repeated if Garmin
Express is updated to a newer version or re-installed.
Thanks for this – very helpful. All working now.
Thanks Richard. A new Admin User profile worked for me. How did you figure
out that was the problem?
I installed Garmin Express OK except one .dll was corrupted, but the new
maps are installing as I write this. Seems that Garmin just do crap
software.
After bandaging my forehead and wiping up the blood, I found your video.
You saved my GPS and perhaps my life, as blunt force trauma can be deadly
to one’s head after repeatedly striking it against a desk. I was so furious
at Garmin, but I am all better now. THANK YOU!
Thanks Richard – Great vid which fixed the problem. Nice work.
Rick I tried the temp account and still got the same message. seems I’m
super unlucky since this worked for a few others. I’m at a total loss
again.
The right click guy below suggested did not work with either admin account.
what the hell. Over the years I have had issues with many Garmin
software’s. but I’ve tried Magellan and tom tom and don”t like those
products as well as a Garmin unit.
What to do next ??????? I was really hoping this would work. My express
worked the last time I used it and now not. Just got a new 350LM in the
mail todayas replacement for the 550 zumo I sent in for repair and can’t
register it or update.
I found the fix, don’t need an 18 minute video. Just right click the
GarminExpress.exe you have downloaded and click “Run as Administrator” and
it works no problems on my PC :)
Only had to watch until the create a new user ID. Logged in on the new ID
and it loaded just fine.
Thanks a lot, it is work after i make new account
Hello, you helped me a lot, it finally worked to install Garmin Express.
Rightclick setup file (save from website not open) and run as admin worked
for me. way simpeler.
Even tho its a admin account some setups still require running as admin.
