Hello Thomas, welcome. you just need to pry it, I popped it out quick with the pry bar. Not so much prying force, just fast pry, if you know what I mean. If it is still hard for it to come off then you will need axle puller tools. Have a nice day.

Thank you for the video it has helped me tremendously!!! I just have one problem, the boot connected to the spindle that comes off the trans came off during the process and I can’t get the spindle out, it seems like your video cuts right when your prying the part out and the trans fluid comes out. How much force should I be using to get that piece out? Any info would help!

88bmyvegas says:

should be almost the same process but 2 big bolts holding strut to the hub assembly is just different.

Travis Faulstich says:

Do you know if the process is the same as on a 2002 Santa fe?

Thanks……

this is the first time. caused by years of wear and tear. problem could be something bent or loose causing the boot to split. like the trans, frame or lower control arm. axle supposed not to rub on anything. something has to be out of place. check your motor motor and trans mounts. or maybe it was not installed correctly. Hope you get find out. Have a nice day.

KJBPSkipper says:

question…have you had this axle go out multiple times..or is this the only time…and what caused that boot to split…I had to file the case on my trand mission because the boot was rubbing on it and causeing the boot to split and making the axle fail.I have a2002 lx v6 sonata.

The new axles are fine, the clicking is similar to something loose that hits metal to metal.

88bmyvegas says:

yes there was one. if it is clicking, then the axle is bad unless they just replaced the boot and not the whole axle. If you hear a clicking before axle rebuilding, better to replace the axle instead of rebuilding it . Thank you. please subscribe and have a nice day

antonio77italy says:

did you put the circlip before inserting the new halfshaft? I had mine replaced and I am sure they did not put it, so I hear some clicking noise when the car begins to roll.
