On this bumper, we will be removing and install the bumper absorber, the grilles, two brackets under the headlight, and the fog light covers. The brackets near the headlights are secured by rivets. Rivets aren’t scary when you know how to remove and install them.

TOOLS NEEDED:
The tools you will need for this job will be a Philips screwdriver, a drill, and a rivet gun (pneumatic or handheld).

Hopefully, you have already removed your bumper. Start with the bumper absorber or the giant foam piece that sits between the bumper cover and bumper bar. It’s held on by a clip on each end that looks very similar to a razor blade. Just simply pull these off. The top grille is held on by Philips screws on each end and the grille snaps onto tabs on the bumper. On to the lower grille which is very similarly secured into place like the top grille. Remove the screws on each end. The lower grille will have two screws on the bottom of the grille as well. Pry the grille off by pushing the tabs away from the grille with your fingers or flat-head screwdriver. The fog light covers or if you have fog lights are attached with screws onto the bumper. Repeat on the opposite side. If you have fog lights, detach the lights first and remove the fog light bezel similar to these covers. Not much different.

Now we are up to the headlight brackets. These brackets are secured with three rivets and the only way to remove them is by drilling the rivet out. Make sure your drill bit is not too big and do not hurt yourself. When it comes to the installation of the rivets, you will most likely be using a handheld rivet gun or riveter. These can be purchased at any hardware store with various sized rivets. We used our old pneumatic gun. The bracket lines up with the larger notch on the inside of the bumper Be sure to line up the three holes correctly. You want to first insert the rivet into the riveter or rivet gun. Treat like the shot of a pistol or an injection shot. Carefully place it in the desired area apply pressure to the trigger. Repeat on both sides.

Hopefully, you have not forgotten how to take off the accessories because now you just work in reveres to install them. Start with the top grille and make sure that the bumper tab slides in between the grille. The rest should be pretty self-explanatory. Just make sure all the tabs are sitting within the grilles before you Hulk smash them in. It’s that easy folks!

Do the accessories come with the bumper?

Tina Or Whateva says:

I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra SE and part of my front bumper and fender liner is missing. When I get the new bumper do I go through this process as well? Or does that depend on how the new bumper comes? My grille is fine and so is my headlight.

Chucho Godinez says:

The grill is not the same on the Elantra GT 2015, I just removed my bumper but I am having problems removing the grill, the top part where the hood is , is not coming off, it has some weird plastic pins/ribbets. I don't know if I will find a tutorial for the 2015 model.

Troy Hicks says:

My fog light got broken on my 2016 elantra but the parts you connect it to on the bumper where the screws go are missing. Can you repair or get glue on replacement without replacing bumper?

Khalil Tha Don says:

Can you please do a video for the 2016 elantra Hood?

Magdalena Szypulski says:

What about the lower lip/valence? You didn't install that one back on the new bumper?

Magdalena Szypulski says:

Thank God for these videos. Keep making them. They are life saving.

I have received it and installed it. I also did an operational check to include the heating element. It was very well packed and the paint was magnificent. Thank you for taking the time to make sure my order was right, and your updates were outstanding!! Keep up the great work.
