Great vid for the novice! Very informative! As a retired tech I’d like to
respectfully disagree w/ conventional oil. I live in Florida (where it’s
hotter than stolen car parts in the south Bronx).Synthetic oil is far
superior to conventional in every way. It flows freely at sub zero temps
(like in Canada) and doesn’t break down as easily at extreme temps (like in
Florida). 5w20 is great for Canada. Here in paradise we use 5w30 0r 10w30.
(My ’99 Accent takes 20w50 which would flow like honey in Canadian
winters).Oil not only lubricates, it also cools and seals. Stay warm G-d
bless my north of the border friends. Shep in Florida.

Glad to help

I have a 2010 Accent I am thinking they cant be too much difference. Now
that I have watched this I do belive you have saved me a lot of trouble. I
would not have know about removing the wheel and the dust cover for access.

D.Aidey Neo says:

thanks a lot i have only a question about the oil filter weather it should
always be changed before draining the oil or it’s ok to change it after
changing the oil , i have zero experience in that hope my question is not
silly 😉 thank you

Do you know how to change the starter? I have the same car and my starters
acting up and not have enough to take to the shop… helpppppp pleassse lbs

gereral1 says:

Step 1. Test starter with a volt meter to make sure you battery is putting
out enough power to turn over. If not run a load test. On you battery. If
its OK then disconnect Neg on battery. Below acoulpe bolts hold starter in
place. Remove connector the remove. Bolts. Drop srarter put new one in
reverse. Goto hundaiservice tech website sign up. Look at 09 accent Mc then
look for starter for torque setting. Hope this helps. By the way your
battery is due soon! 3-5 years.

gereral1 says:

Place the positive lead of the voltmeter at the positive solenoid
connection and ground the voltmeter’s negative lead. Then have a friend try
to start the car. When he or she turns the key, the voltmeter should read
12 volts.

gereral1 says:

you could try it by jacking up and placing Jack stands on both side and
slide under and do it. Even if the car is raised high you still have
limited room, or you can pay someone else to do it.. lol

brettzke says:

thanks for showing me how to do an oil change. I’m doing my 2nd one now,
and am saving money, and the time it takes to send my car off to a shop.

James Campbell says:

thanks!

gereral1 says:

sure give me 2 weeks doing brakes this week

gereral1 says:

I had to put a new battery in at about 3 1/2 years. I made a video on
battery testing and battery and trickle charger install on my site

gereral1 says:

Remove the ignition switch wire from the solenoid and, using an insulated
screwdriver, short the solenoid’s positive post to the terminal where the
ignition switch connects. Doing so will apply 12 volts directly from the
battery. This should activate the solenoid, and the starter should crank
the car. If the ignition switch isn’t delivering quite enough current or
the solenoid is old and sticking, this may reveal the problem.

Miguel Angel Cedeño Franco says:

thanks, very good video and explanation.

Andy M says:

Can you show how to do a tune up?

tsiemens says:

any reason you cant do the oil from underneath?

gereral1 says:

sounds good. The only time I’ll pass on an oil change is say Jan to March.
lol

SOKOOL says:

It seems like a lot of work having to take the wheel and the dust guard off
just to change the oil and oil filter….

gereral1 says:

Nope, go ahead if you want but I do not like to get dirty. Feel free to lay
under the car….
