Cool video, same concept for h3 hummers right?
Similar to my wife’s 06′ H3 Hummer except there is some hard lines running right in front of there. Pain in the ass. Just did it last night and the damn thing is still leaking POS. Now I have to take it apart again and see if the o-ring moved when I had to wrestle it in there.
Another thing the bugs me is why is there no drain plug on the radiator. It makes such a mess pulling the tube off with coolant in it. They made a drip path for the oil filter why not a drain plug on the rad….
Gauge could be reading inaccurate. Clean radiator fins and condenser (in front of radiator if you have A/C) to make sure dirt or debris is not blocking air flow. Restricted Radiator inside. When does it run hot, driving only or if you let it run at idle does it still run hot…?
I Replace the Thermostat and water pump still running hot any suggestions
I have seen the spring tension clamps loose their tension, if you got it off I am confident you can get it back on! Otherwise get a different hose clamp from your local store
excellent video, i have to remove the thermostat from the house because i could´t find the piece as you do it, but how could i re-install the same clamp? or do i need to replace it?

try to get a screwdriver in between the hose the the t-stat housing. They do make hose picks to separate hoses like that.
Hey thanks for the video, huge help! I unbolted the thermostat without any big trouble, but I couldn’t for the life of me get the thing off the hose (I did remove the clamp). Any suggestions or tricks to separate the two?
With a container below, I would just unbolt the thermostat housing and let it flow out there. U could find the drain plug on the radiator and let it out that way.
I have 05 z71 with I5. My check engine light just come on and it says I need new thermostat. I am gonna take it apart this week, can you tell me what is the easiest way to drain the coolant? And of course I will be putting in new coolant after I am done.

You can bypass it, coolant will of course come out when you take out the thermostat.. I usually do remove the tire, cause I like as much space as possible when I work. AND better for video.
do I need to drain the coolant? or can I do this bypassing that step? Did you remove the tire?

Awesome video. This was a great find! I was just getting ready to do a this exact project.I’m in Columbus, Ohio. I just rolled 100,000 miles and the thermostat went bad so I’m doing a full coolant flush at the same time. So hopefully I won’t have the same coolant spillage problem you did 🙂 Thanks and do more Colorado videos – I’ll be doing other projects myself and it’s great to see someone else do it before I attempt.
