I actually did much research on K&N filters, and they are junk,
almost all REAL dyno results showed they had no advantage over a cheap paper filter.
and they let far to many particles into your intake.
plus the oil eventually clogs your MAP.
they do many your engine louder though,
so basically K&N has advertised so much, they have tricked people into thinking their filter is better when in reality they are not.
Anytime you alter something on a warranted vehicle, dealerships will threaten to void warranties. Usually this is only a threat but most of the time they follow through unless you take them to court.
My mechanic said using K@N filter voided his factory warranties
