Hummer H3 anti-theft passlock solution

Hummer H3 anti-theft passlock solution

Customer states theft light comes on and has to wait 10min until it resets and turns back on. I checked it and seems 5volts are active when the theft kicks in. Once it reads it it drops to 4.4 vlts come to find the ignition switch is faulty which causes the signal to not be sent to the pcm at times. I will keep you posted if truck comes back. After ignition switch replacement truck turns on perfectly.

For a 2009 Hummer H3, disconnecting the negative terminal (10 mm) of the battery for 15 min. then reconnecting worked. The reset instructions didnt work even after four 10 min waits. Nothing else i tried worked either. Going to spray CRC as advised below on the green plug and see if this helps to prevent reoccurrences.

Did it crank over at all before you changed the part? I have a no crank no start the starter is good and the battery is good.

@ASEWorldClassTech says:

I used HPtuners and just you can Tune it out on the H3/Colorado/Canyon.

@jimmywiggians6353 says:

No no no, need to replace parts or reprogram! Just unplug the green plug and spray CRC Electronic cleaner into electrical connections. Spray back into female receptacle also allow time to dry and plug back in: NO START issue solved. The ignition switch is not the problem, the problem is carbon buildup and oxidation on electric connection which degrades the signal to vehicle systems one being the anti theft deterrent system forcing you to wait 10 minutes for reset. Remember this is a random issue so doesn’t mean a part is broken, vehicle would never start if ignition switch was broken.

mine is lite up but not blinking. Will NOT go off. so what's that mean

@RiskyBusiness1515 says:

Thats the electric ignition switch . No pass lock sensors . Theres no programming it is a reset you did.

@cmoore677 says:

Just clea it with alcohol

@triciastanley993 says:

I put this module on my ignition now my instrument panel don’t work

@truth1267 says:

To close the switch, is it just one click?

@scottlavoie5405 says:

I replaced the ignition sensor and reprogrammed the system and it works most of the time now, however sometimes it still doesn't want to start but if I crank it and hold it will kick over, why is that?

@450rhino1 says:

Of all the posts on youtube, this one is the best. I purchased a steering colum from an auto salvage. Removed these tw0 philips head screws, replaced just this sensor in my 2006 H3 Hummer. 30 minute fix tops includes re-programing the key. Forget the other 50 posts that say cut this, solder this. BULL CRAP. Replace the sensor only.

@Angel-l7k9e says:

You have to replace the whole cylinder

@sharabi21 says:

Dosen't work.

I have found a much easier solution that's fool proof to this issue!! I have a 07 h3 that wants to decide once a month that I'm a effin thief. And it's not 10 seconds to restart it, IT'S 10 MINS AND I BETTER NOT TRY TO TURN THE KEY ONE SECOND EARLIER OR THE 10MIN CLOCK STARTS OVER AGAIN. I have been put in dangerous, embarrassing situations so many times because of this malfunctioning POS.

HERE'S THE SOLUTION, When you turn over your ignition and it does that glorious antitheft lock crap, leave key in on position (obviously the ignition isn't allowing you do cut it on) and pump the gas pedal all the way to the ground FIVE TIMES!! This is the same method you use to reset the CHANGE OIL light. It will soft reset the computer and the truck will crank on the fifth pump of the gas pedal!!! Works every time and it works the first time immediately. I'm sure someone will tell me how this method is screwing up my whole computer system and yadda yadda but f it. I'm sick of being stranded everywhere I go. F GMC for this garbage. Hope this helps you!!!

I took it to a tuner to disable the VATS. I no longer have to wait 10min to turn on the car. Just make sure they have an HP tuner.

@paulustriplepower528 says:

The problem is only the conector. Clean it with contact spray, specialy the pins. Bend the pins a tiny litle bit in the midle so it will make good contact when you connect the conector back again. I had the 10 minute problem every week and now never again for more than 3 years now.
Problem Solved.

@dylanhome6723 says:

Does the steering wheel have to come off?

@dianakesl1814 says:

I did have the sunroof leak I just fixed. Don't know if that's the cause of the problem. This is so aggravating because I can't use my Hummer to rob banks anymore, LOL. (Rusty)

@coyotesnper says:

Did this on mine, however it would not turn over the 3 times. I did everything the same just Turning the key to engage the starter would not turn the engine over. And on the 3rd try it started up.

@juanparral7420 says:

hello, I have the same problem, but the blocking symbol remains fixed, I changed the sensor piece and on the recommendation of the electrician a resistance was placed to fool the blocking system and it has not been possible to solve it, try the 3 cycles 10 minutes, but only in the last one I try to start it, I don't know if it will be important in each cycle to try to start it, please your help with something that you can guide me I would appreciate it very much I have stopped my truck for 5 months trying everything

@lookileftpooponyourpage5604 says:

Cool feature on mine… the anti-theft light comes on, but I can still start and drive, it just doesn't add mileage to the odometer…

@randyswank2345 says:

I have a 2008 H3 Alpha and I changed this exact part and it didn’t work for me as I’m still having issues with it not starting. It happens like once a month still.
