ALWAYS HAVE THE UTILITIES LOCATED AND NEVER USE A TRENCHER TO CROSS A GAS
LINE. Consider yourself one of the lucky ones and hopefully this
instructional video does not end up getting someone killed or injured. Some
of the Pros are trying to give advice, yet you feel it is funny to crap on
them, yet you are the one who looks like the fool.

Al Zedder says:

Robert, sorry to say it but you sound more worried of the internet stealing
biasness away from you than bringing you business from failed attempts by
do-it-yourselfers. Great video. Don’t listen to anyone telling you
otherwise. If you have the knowledge then do it yourself. For Robert
McNeish trashing you, well, I am sure he calls all the contractors for
every single job he has to do around his home. Call a locksmith to install
your door knob Robert?. I agree if you are not handy and don’t know how the
basics of a sprinkler system work, then don’t attempt, but we live in the
age of internet and information and if you are up for a task, then videos
like this are very informative. You should not attempt to install your own
sprinkler system anyhow until you have read up on it from various sites and
educate yourself fully and then if you feel you have done your homework, go
for it. I have fixed numerous car issues with the help of internet and
Youtube, and I am sure Robert has too..or did he actually stop and go to
visit a “licensed mechanic” because say installing your own brakes is not
recommended unless you have a proper certificate, right Robert? Again,
thanks for the great video, and don’t let guys like Robert scare you off,
it is really not that complicated. .

Thats cool, well done

+Heavyboxes do you have any tips on installing a backflow preventer? Great
video and thanks for posting…don’t know what Robert McNeish was talking
about….Canadian at it’s best :0

Robert McNeish says:

I am a professional irrigation installer in Ontario Canada CIT,CIC. Please
do not try installing your sprinkler system based on videos like this to
save a few bucks. Ontario has strict building code requirements for cross
connection devices that have to be installed by a Licensed professional
then tested yearly. Also you need a permit from city hall. I have seen many
systems like this that wind up costing the home owner more in fines and
penalties than it would have if it had be done right the first time.
Thinking of hiring a pro … two things to keep in mind.
1) must have a (CIC) Certified Irrigation Contractor certificate onsite to
install system.
2) must have (CIT) certified irrigation tech certificate to work on or
repair systems.

You get exactly what pay for.

I installed it myself.. not hard… one day… I connected the hose to
outdoor faucet with a ..backflow preventer valve.. I run it ….
manual….

gutierrezgto1 says:

Way to much pressure you need a pressure regulator
And for tha small yard 1 zone will be ok. Good job.

donatospoony says:

Great video!

Heavyboxes says:

I ran the two zones at the same time and I’m surprised the water spread is
better. 9 sprinklers running at only 70 PSI yet, shoot out and reach the
desired length. The manufacturer recommended less sprinklers per zone but
appears to not work as well.

Heavyboxes says:

UPDATE: A year has gone by now. The grass grew in very well. Lots of weeds
grew as well. I’ve sprayed for weeds several times. Only a few bare spots
where more grass seed is needed.

jamgabem says:

To the guy asking about checking for leaks! PVC!

Heavyboxes says:

I think I understand the confusion. You can test the sprinkler line WITHOUT
the timer by turning the manual release valve on the each individual
control valve. Thus, the line was checked for leaks before back filling the
trenches.

yourock4132 says:

This is still your house??????????????????

enidradiotesters says:

You should always have the underground utilities located before starting
this kind of project. You could be injured or killed if you don’t.There is
no charge for that service.

Beth Reopelle says:

Why would you need to test PVC pipe joints, you must be the worst at
fitting pipe. How do you have a leak with PVC anyway??

Heavyboxes says:

The design element, link, is in the description. There are too many brands
and variables to reinvent the wheel. Designing a rain bird sprinkler system
is included in the description.

Heavyboxes says:

That step is in the description, was not recorded in the video.

crazyking50 says:

Wow. Didn’t test for leaks before you buried your pipe.

Jill Calhoun says:

Great job!!! You are a hard worker. Looks like an excellent job! Thanks for
the video!!

ideaslandscape says:

nice job

Seth B says:

No design element. I can do all this BS with a blindfold, drunk , and in my
sleep. I need to know whether X number of heads on a zone will cover X area
with my water supply. This part a chimpanzee could do with some minor
supervision. Once the design plans are drawn and marked this part is stupid
easy for a master electrician/industrial pipe fitter and instrumentation
PLC tech like myself.
