Thanks for the video. I tried to g2 owneroperatorsconnect website but it
didn’t load.
@ihatekimch Steer axle shocks may or may not require an acetolyene torch.
The top of the shock is a nut and bolt, however the bottom of the shock is
a stud which is part of the front springs and u-bolt. Depending on the age
of your tractor and the amount of salt it has seen, it is quite possible
that the bottom of the shock has seized to the stud and may need to be cut
off with a torch.
I’m sure Davco would tell you there is a difference. This is the only way
I’ve ever done it, I’ve probably changed close to 300 of these things and
have never had a problem.
Hi. Thank you so much for your wonderful video. ^^ It is very very helpful.
I have few questions for you. After you drain fuel out, do you save that
and reuse it? Or is that bad fuel?? Filter I bought from Freightliner parts
store, there’s hard paper glued to almost top half of the filter. I’m not
100% sure if I should remove it or not. I tried, but I can’t remove all of
it. I’m planing to replace two front shocks on my Freightliner. Is it
simple job to do it? because it looks like I only
@MCLOVINJDM Which issue are you having? Low fuel bowl level or Check Engine
Light is on? If the fuel bowl is low, you could have a check valve issue in
the fuel system and the fuel is running back to the tank, if this is the
case, then the truck would be hard starting as it is losing its prime. If
your check engine light is on, I’d go to the dealer and have them check the
ecm’s fault codes. Each time your check engine light comes on, the ecm will
log a fault and tell you what the problem is.
My davco book says after you install filter to fill bowl to top of filter
then close vent cap. Next start engine and slowly open vent until fuel
drops to 1 inch above collar. I like your way it looks easier. Is there a
difference?
@ihatekimch The Davco owners manual says that you can reuse the drained
fuel, but I never do. When you open the petcock, look for any sediment /
aluminum shavings or water in the drained fuel. If you see any of these,
then don’t reuse it. The paper is part of the separator filter, don’t
remove it. I failed to mention it in the video, but be sure not to
over-tigthen the vent cap. They should only be hand tight. My hands we
covered in diesel when I installed it, and thats why I used the wrench
If the level on that specific filter is low or doesn’t have any left, could
it be a reason why the check engine or engine protect light would turn on?
