If the starter is bad does that affect the odometer making it move by itself or is that alternator , but when I cranked it it flicks twice than crank wat that mean last time it was the motor on my old car this a new one I’m talking about
I’ve done that, and it worked. I stopped found it when I took one apart and realised that the starter has magnets glued around the housing and I had busted the magnets to pcs bumping it. Didn’t have to hit it hard to break them either. Although, if you stranded, this may work

Would a car starting and dying shortly after be a starter?
also if it has a faulty connection you can jump the starter. its not always a stuck solenoid.
