Drew Meade says:

what do you think of flowmasters and their “scavenging” effect, they say it
increases the efficiency of the engine, do you think thats true?

Ryan Curran says:

Does it harm your car if you put a bigger diameter catback without
modifications? Like before you do and mods, just get a bigger diameter so
you don’t have to worry about HP shortage later?

MrHopekiller says:

you are only taking the measure of the outlet of the muffler which can and
most likely is different from the piping itself

Art Vandelay says:

Getting a little Carl Sagan vibe from this guy

if only he could wear the same brown suit as Carl

Andrew Wittwer says:

But can’t having too large of a diameter exhaust system lead to the
pressure of the entire system being to low? I hear that having too low of
exhaust pressure in can cause damage to the engine, from the exhaust
cooling excessively quick, causing damage to the valves and gaskets. Is
that why they design cars with the size exhaust they do?

n3v3tS180 says:

so If I were to buy this catback exhaust, it wouldn’t come with a catalytic
converter right?

Mario perez says:

How can you get 75hp from an exhaust lol

RogerKweynt says:

Just wondering before i really get this catback. Is this a 50 state legal?

SUBARUWRXPRO says:

can you explain turbo back exhausts please
thanks

Patrick Graf says:

hey, love your video’s. very honest and helpful.

I have a 2010 civic si sedan. K&N short ram intake (typhoon 69) & an
invidia q300 catback exhaust. With only the short ram intake, is the
catback exhaust not doing anything? Am I better off just putting back the
stock exhaust or keeping the invidia catback exhaust?
everything else on the car is stock.

Any info helpful. Thanks!

TheBryan711 says:

140 to 225 hp with a catback?!!! u trippin bro! haha

outdoorsadrenaline says:

If you go to the larger diameter exhaust and have little or no engine
performance modifications to increase hp therefore failing to optimize the
new increased exhaust upgrade capability due to lack of engine hp…. Can
that gap between the engines current hp and lack of exhaust optimization
capability adversely affect the vehicles performance?

Eli Mcgilbra says:

if I wanted to install just a catback muffler, would i need the full system
as well or js the muffler?

Sahil Walia says:

I have a 03 g with all stock. No upgrades whatsoever in performance. I need
a little help here. Would it b a good idea for me to get borla or whtever
aftermarket catback exhaust? Can i expect some performance gains with a
stock engine? Pls help. Much appriciated. Thx

Moyad Kawar says:

your channel is informative but boring.. use graphics or animation dude

stormrider777 says:

I think a catback only gives you about 5-8 hp. if that.

ADAM Last says:

If im right you just measured the tip of the standerd exhaust and not the
bore of the piping underneath and then measured the piping on the
aftermarket and not the tip so any calcaltions would be wrong

jench78 says:

you’re assuming that the manufacturer went with an ideal size, and that’s a
big assumption. Also, since your new system is mandrel, the increase in
flow is going to be much more than what the simple increase in area says,
but who knows how to figure for that…

Logan McFarlane says:

wait but why are you using diameter in your area calculations, shouldn’t it
be the radius squared not diameter squared?

Erik Nguyen says:

So what is the Downpipe? And thanks a lot for your videos!

Robert Clucas says:

Been watching your videos here and there for a different way to look at
things. On an informative note, you just measured the muffler tip which is
on the back of the car and compared it to the beginning of the catback
exhaust. Why did you do that instead of comparing stock muffler tip with
aftermarket muffler tip or stock catback with aftermarket catback?

Jose Orozco says:

I have a nissan gtr I’m only 16 but what are thing I can do to tune it up

Alex Protopapas says:

so if i put a performance catback on a full stock engine ill get more power
on not?

Jav The Ripper says:

With certain exhausts, can you end up creating a case where there is too
MUCH airflow and you have too little back pressure?

yapnop2 says:

I can’t understand how a cat back exhaust , can improve so much horsepower
in your car. like 60-80 bhp.

I mean, installing performance exhaust systems, like invidia , borla ,
meistershaft, etc, would also yield the same amount of power or more maybe
?

bmbrman7 says:

Can someone explain to me the back pressure part please…I didn’t
understand how it works

thomas duggan says:

I have a 2001 VW Jetta VR6. I only replaced the muffler with a Magnaflow
muffler and tip Part # 12615. No Mods of any kind, will it pass under 95
decibels? It sounds really good but not super loud.

Mikey Pimentel says:

Just so you know with todays computer controlled vehicles the ecu will
account for what you are changing to a degree so with out a reflash or
stand alone unit the power out put will be very small. All mods need to be
accounted for by the ecu to get their full potential.

Ricky Temples says:

I’m sorry but you will NOT see almost 80 horsepower gain with a piping job
on a stock motor, maybe 35-45 IF YOURE LUCKY. But the ONLY way to see 80 is
with a tune.

Joseph Stone says:

My car already pushes over 400 hp; would adding a catback further increase
the hp, or would performance suffer because of back flow or some other
factor?
