I disagree with Scotty on this one, to a certain degree.

Yes, there are over a million L15B7s on Accords, Civics, and CRVs. But to be fair, the dilution issue is somewhat overblown. This only happens in rare circumstances where the engine doesn’t reach sufficient operating temps and cannot burn off excess fuel vapors. Over time it collects in the sump and slowly dilutes the oil over thousands of miles. But even in a majority of worst case scenarios, the maintenance minder intervenes well before excess dilution becomes problematic. The exception being excessive short trips in extremely cold climates. This has been backed by several hundred UOAs from 1.5T owners under a variety of operating conditions.

Honda has addressed the “fringe” scenarios through a software update that limits the operation of the heater and related accessories following a cold startup. This allows the engine to reach operating temps much sooner, which in turns burns off any excess fuel. If you have a 17-20 1.5T and live anywhere where temps fall below 30*, chances are you’re covered under the extended 7 yr/unlimited mile warranty. I’ve yet to hear of any 1.5T owners requesting coverage due to valve lash, ring/sleeve wear, or similar issues stemming from excessive dilution.

Ricardo M says:

Are 1.5s actually unreliable? I’m looking to buy one bc of the fuel economy

Vick Vega says:

I have a 1.5 earth dream non turbo 100k miles running great

Eugene Pendarvis says:

Scotty what about the Earthdream 3.5 L V6

Thax Reston says:

Back to reality. I have a 2020 1.5L turbo Accord. I Change the oil every 3K miles.
That’s every 7 weeks !
I’m getting 43MPG at 75MPH. If you drain black oil during a change, you are too late…. Total cost for my oil change $35. WIX filter, new crush washer, 0w-20 GF-6A synthetic oil….. next question

Diver Dave says:

…mmm my 1976 Audi Fox had a HORRIBLE problem with oil delusion …. I took it back to the dealer many times in HOPES they could fix it … BUT they couldn't . I found a VW mechanic from Germany that fixed it in less then 10 seconds with a 1/8 inch twist of a screw driver

moist_captain says:

Abdalla Ibrahim says:

I don't understand they got 2.0 hybrid and 2.0 Turbo which one is good?

Bobby Shake says:

My honda would last forever if it wasnt a rust bucket
