Thank you so much!!! I finally found a tutorial that shows me exactly what
i was looking for ! =]
nice that you showed how to replace everything on the control arm EXCEPT
for the ball joint itself..
@JBot307 id do both at the same time.
are you using jackstands?
thanks for posting this!!
@RoberTastic on this car, the upper a-arm and ball joint are one piece, so
you have to replace the whole thing.
usually adjustable camber kits like the ones i have in this video.
sometimes you can get an adjustable a-arm as well
when doing this should i replace the upper ball joints on both sides or
just as needed?
camber kit holes are already there. if the ball joint breaks, the whole arm
falls out of the car, usually breaking the axle and could cause a serious
accident. if you grab the control arm and shake it, there should be no
movement from the ball joint, if so, time to replace.
the camber kits squeak, thats kinda just how they are. if you use some
thick grease, like litium grease, itll help, but i think eventually itll
come back.
Did that need modification to install the camber kit or are the all the
bolt holes already there, you just bolt them on? What would happen if an
upper ball joint broke? What are the signs your upper and/or lower ball
joints are about to brake or broken? My car bangs in first from stop.
Clutch pedal has suction, stuck feel sometimes. New tie rods, cv axles both
sides. Recent tranny, clutch, flywheel, master & slave cylinders and all 4
lug nut bolts broke and replaced FL tire 97 Honda Civic LX
@SpoonPrelude for this car its welded to the a-arm, so no. i wouldve done
that if i could
When replacing the upper ball joint, do you Have to replace the upper
control arm? They are not separate parts? (I have a 1995 Honda accord 4
cyl.)
Great video man. where u got those camber kit?
By any chance, can this step-by-step also be used to repair the same parts
on a 2004 honda accord lx 4door? Also, is the 2004 a Arm & Ball joint in 1
assembly? Or can the Individual Ball joint be replaced?
I tried hittin it loose but it wont budge
dude are those adjustable camber kits? cause if they are can you tell me a
web or something were you bought them cause i’m trying to find adjustable
camber kits for my Honda accord 94. thanks 🙂
Notes 0:16
What brand of upper control arm did you use? I just bought a dorman from
both sides from rockauto as well two kyb complete struts. Any thoughts on
dorman?
How do you put negative camber with these
@nukem384 actually i happen to have a 1996 honda civic and i’m planning to
change my ball joint myself for the first time. therefore, I wanted a fully
detailed video on replacing it. don’t get me wrong, ur video was ok help
full an all that but as I mentioned above.
thanks dude!
what size tools where the open ended wrench?
Is there a way to pop off just the ball joint?
Um whats the purpose of taking off the camber kits like that and you didn’t
even show how to take out the old ball joint and install the new one. At
0;45 you are removing nuts not bolts
thanks man! *LIKE* Was wondering if you can help me out. I got some UCA’s
w/ ball joint from ebay (need to replace my ball joints on my 92 civic –
same basic design). Anyways, aren’t you supposed to fill the boot/joint up
with grease? I’m about to attempt to replace mine this weekend but need to
know if people are using grease in theirs or not… THANKS!
This is why you should always be wearing appropriate safety equipment,
glasses in this case 😉
@krzfly they should be filled with grease already shouldnt they? if not,
def yes fill them with grease or the joints will break super quick
OK so for the passenger side, how do you remove the fuse box that is in the
way of the UCA bolts? I don’t want to break the plastic rivet if I can’t
replace it properly.
on the 90-97 accords, the ball joint is welded to the a-arm. you can not
just press out the ball joint and replace it, you have to buy an entirely
new a-arm with a new ball thats welded in. that is why i “skipped right
past it”.
@nukem384 its not built like this on a 92 prelude is it ?
@uncool89 yeah itd be pretty similar
@nukem384 SHIT… i just noticed that there is no more video reply options
🙁 anyways, I uploaded a video of the ebay unit i was talking about. come
to my channel and look at what i’m referring to. THANKS MAN!
Hmmm…well that makes sense. How about taking off that A arm? Since I
don’t have a camber kit can I just unbolt the ones on the tower instead of
loosening it on the inside? Great vids btw.
@krzfly hmm there shouldnt be any holes or openings in them. they do need
to keep the grease in there. yeah you can actually buy just new boots if
the joint is still ok but the boot is ripped. im not so sure about those
ebay UCA tho, sound a little shady to me. give it a try and see if the
grease leaks out? my guess is it will tho.
@nukem384 cool. and thx for the super quick response!
was your alignment affected by this?
very nice video. Thank you!
fuse box is held on by 2 bolts i believe. you should be able to look around
and find them.
@SpoonPrelude yes you can, just rent a ball joint press from autozone and
grab a new joint for $20 while you’re there.
Thanks very nice video. Congratulations!!!
