My big cog has the “up” pointing straight down when the other cogs are
lined up with their respective marks before I have removed anything. Is
this ok? Should I reassemble it this way since that’s the way it was?

noseasmamut says:

Thanks a lot sir, great detailed tutorial.

Dezy Rodriguez says:

Question planning to buy a accord needs a water pump is it worth it if they
want 1500….

gabriel ohcoa says:

Hello, I’m trying to remove the balancer shaft gear because my seal in the
balancer shaft popper out. I tried removing it putting a screw inside the
balancer shaft hole and using a wrench with a long tube to remove it, but
It broke a screwdriver and a 12mm socket. Is it possible this screw doesn’t
turn left? Or can it he removed at all?

amir ali says:

Ive done many belt jobs on my older ek n ekg but having to do all this to
my accord, forget it. Imma jus pay someone to do it. But this is overall a
great n helpful video

usn020702 says:

This is what this video said to me…”blah blah blah, pay someone to do it
and drink a beer.”

jamesrrodgers says:

thank u, great quality video. I found the red circles on timing marks
helpful. I watched this prior to my first replacement of timing & balancer
belts, front crank and camshaft oil seals. The balancer belt was broken but
tensioner pulley, oil pump & water pump all turned smoothly. WARNING prior
mechanic had overtightened bolt on upper timing cover which broke metal
sleeve in back timing cover. I had to cut thru timing cover to remove upper
timing cover. this Honda Accord has 200,000miles

Chris Lee says:

Your video is very helpful. Thanks for sharing.

nukem384 says:

@RCDC93 you cant take the water pump out without taking the timing belt
off. you might as well just change the timing belt while youre in there.
and no, you basically have to follow this whole tutorial

stripesofadidas says:

why do you need to drain the coolant from the radiator???? do i have to
replace the belt tensionor??

Hideo Kojima says:

Should I be attempt to replace it if I have little or no experience with
fixing cars? Would I screw something up if I just watch you carefully?

Armando1739 says:

wat if you already turn both belts at the same time wat do u do then?

kennedy wong says:

tension pully worth over $150 at the dealer ship.. I would even try to put
after market parts for an engine..

bassmanbruce1 says:

Just did an 01 today

Carlos Ayala says:

Rob E says:

My Crank Pulley thing was IMMMPPPPPPROOOSSUBLLLLEEEE to take out :/

ZekeComa says:

Why didn’t you replace any of the seals?

Matthew Bui says:

Hello Sir….I have 02 V6…so is that the same with 4 Cylinders. Please
advise. Thanks for your video…oh by the way. you show how to set a mark
on crankshaft..by turn pulley…how about the other marks…how to you line
them up…Thank you very much.

alitt004 says:

Thanks jorge

mailpup says:

Normal rotation direction for this engine is counterclockwise.

Stephen Jackson says:

Make sure you mark the position of everything before taking belts offs,
I’ve taken this belt off atleast 5 Times before, and when i did it
yesterday i couldn’t get it to start after 2 days of work

GIROB1985 says:

Well from ur prospective what do I think might be wrong from what I told u?

yourripper87 says:

Just did this on my friends 96. I stayed up really late finding everything
i could about it and looking for tips for the crank bolt, but when it came
time to do it i ended up dropping about halfway on the compression stroke
on #1, fed some soft-shield 4 gage power wire in through the spark plug
opening, raised up to almost TDC, and put a 2′ 1/2″ breaker bar on the
crank bolt. It took me brabbing the frame and kicking the BB but it broke
lose much easier then i thought it would. Its worth a try!

nukem384 says:

@KBar87 2006 will be completely different as i think theyve switched the
accord over to the k series engines.

ElitePokerPlayer says:

also…the tool should be around 40-60 bucks and it is a good investment on
top of adding a water pump and/or timing belt at the same time. Some people
even add in a timing belt tensioner just to complete the whole internals
for a peace of mind. Not a bad idea but most are on a budget so just do
what you can do but plan it out. Hope this helps

gokblok says:

I believe what you’re calling the oil pump shaft is actually the balance
shaft. The oil pump is on the right (rear) of the crank and the balance
shaft is on the left (front).

unebonnevie says:

The dealer is a greedy bastard! It should cost $600 max!

jonathan Last says:

on a 89 accord it looks alot easyer then the new one ha i need a water
pumper my just when out but i dont think i am going to do the time belt

nukem384 says:

on this car its every 105k. its recommended you change the water pump at
the same time because you have to remove the timing belt to get to the
water pump. if the fins on the water pump disintegrate over time because
you didnt change it when you shouldve, then say goodbye to your engine.

nukem384 says:

i wouldnt try it if you dont have much experience with cars. this install
isnt for novice diyers.

jackiecastro410 says:

To Nukem384: I hope you realize that you are not the norm in todays
society. Thank you for not trying to make a buck off of people for this
video. You are a shining light in this dark world. I still cant believe I
am watching this for free.
