Thank you! I changed fuel filter, spark plug, coil, cleaned the carburetor, and finally found this. Now it runs like a champ. Thanks again for sharing the info
Similar happens when the cable wears and stretches creating too much slack, or wears out the conduit and binds the cable – new cable fixes that when they get hard to pull.
One thing of note here, it’s probably not the switch that’s on its was out. Likely the cable just got a bit stretched. You can adjust the cable tension and it likely woulda fixed your issue.
If you ain't getting spark… Rule that system out. Your probably newer based off how you came to the solution. Engines need fuel, air, spark and compression. I usually first chance spark, if it's good. Dump some fuel down the cylinder and see if it fires off. If it does you got compression and air. All that's left is fuel which 99% is just dirty jets in small engines. Once you do it a few times it's a walk in the park. Glad you where able to get to the sourse of your issue. That is the ground switch, if it's not working right and pushed in (pull the bar) I would see if your cable is worn first.
Honda really needs to make a move to stay in the game and lighten up all of their push mowers and self-propelled mowers because they are the heaviest thing on the market for the past 22 years.

All you do is twist the cable and it gets closer to the kill switch free fix
Simple micro switch messing up a good day. Glad the fix was cheap though
Replaced everything before finding out a blob of weld could fix it. Typical lol… – Detroit

All you had to do mate was unscrew the dead man's cable three turns and it would have extended the cable..
