Thanks Dayne. I viewed both of your videos before replacing the lock
actuator and the clock light on MY Odyssey (210,000 miles and still
rolling). It was nice to know what to expect before starting the repair.
Thanks for taking the time to create and post these videos.
What manuals was bohnafyde1 talking about for $10? What’s your website?

Dayne Wright says:

Sorry for not showing more detail on that part. The problem was taping it
while removing. The bearing just has to be forced out. That is all there is
to it. The cables will turn slightly and then they will pull up and out.
Hope that helps clarify some for you.

tubbytoast8 says:

I wish that you would have shown the details on how to remove the two black
cables as well as how to remove the rod from the bearing. That is the steps
that I am having trouble with. I know that you said that they are a little
difficult to remove but would have helped to see it done. How do I remove
the cables? How do you remove the silver ends out of the small brackets? Do
you just pop them out with a screwdriver? What about removing the rod?
Great video, just a bit more details. Thanks!

My 2003 Odyssey passenger side sliding door makes a loud grinding type
noise when the auto locks engage. Does that sound like an actuator problem
to you?

Avason1 says:

Stupid question…are you doing this from inside the van with the door
closed??

Josh MacDonald says:

My door appears to be stuck in the locked position. Is this likely the same
part causing the problem or should I open it up to find the problem first?

Josh MacDonald says:

@sirmogusbunns… I am an idiot and forgot to check the child lock. I have
other problems to repair, but this one was a simple oversight in the
investigation process.

sirmogusbunns says:

@joshmacd1 …my 2005 ody drivers side slider door is also stuck in the
locked position and I can do nothing to get the door to open. I have yet to
find any help online. Have you had any luck with yours???

Scott Duty says:

Hi. Thanks for the great video instructions. I have a 2003 LX. The driver’s
side sliding door would lock with the power lock, but won’t unlock. I have
to unlock it manually. I replaced the actuator, but the problem still
remains–the lock will lock, but won’t unlock. I think it might be
electrical. Any suggestions?

Hames says:

Mine is a 2004 Odyssey that is doing the same thing. I tried manually
locking it from inside and it does the same grinding noise. I should also
mention that for a while now, the door will not lock unless you hit the
MAIN switch to make sure its locked at night. Do you think this will fix
the problem? Thanks for the video

Dayne Wright says:

The problem you are having is the the latch assembly. I had the same issue.
There is a small cable on the latch assembly inside the back of the door
that pulls it in once it shuts. That cable breaks pretty easily. The
problem is you can’t purchase just the cable and the will need to buy
assembly. You can get it from $70 to $100 on Ebay or internet store. I’ll
make a video on how to do it soon since this seems to be an issue a lot of
people are having.

Hames says:

Thank you, will let you know if it fixes the problem

Been looking everywhere for help in replacing both headlight assemblies in
my ’07 Odyssey. You win the gold ring. I went to your site and downloaded
the entire Honda manual for the diagrams..and for just 10 bucks. Can’t beat
that, Thanks again for the info and video helps.

Dayne Wright says:

This will fix the door if the automatic locks will not work. Could it be
the childlock or the gas door is open? Both of those will stop it from
unlocking.

Dayne Wright says:

It is an actuator issue and this will fix it. The latch is only a problem
if it will not close completely. The actuator is what puts it in the lock
position.

pieltigre1 says:

how do you now that was the problem or whats your door funtion whit this
problem?because i have problem whit my door but i open it forcing the lock
in unlock position with my left hand and pulling it for outside with my
right hand.

Spencer Allen says:

@Dayne Wright Hey, I’m having a problem with my 2001 Odyssey. The driver
side sliding door won’t close all the way. It’ll just sort of bounce off
where it’s supposed to close at and not lock in. What could be the solution
to my problem?

Dayne Wright says:

It is the latch assembly that is the problem. I will make another video
soon showing how to fix it and hopefully it will help.

YoBoost Com says:

Hi my Odyssey 2003’s one sliding door does close tightly. However, when I
lock it remotely the door doesn’t lock; I had to manually turn the lock
switch inside the car to lock the door, after it, if I use the remote to
unlock the door, it beeps due to the switch is still at “locked” position –
it doesn’t automatically unlock! Is this the Actuator issue or the Latch
issue? will this video fix it? Thanks for your help!

Dayne Wright says:

I am not sure what you mean by the main switch. It could possibly be the
lock actuator. I would replace it because it will fix the automatic lock
for sure.

Dayne Wright says:

There is a cable in the back of the door that pulls it all the way shut. I
added a link to the install video in the information section above. It
should show you how to fix that issue. Let me know if that isn’t the
problem.

Roberto Natal says:

I saw the video about 4 times. Got familiarized with the procedure. Did it
for the first time in only 45 minutes!! Excellent video and explanation.
Tips mentioned were also very helpful, for example using the fork and
identifying difficult steps. Thanks a lot for posting this video. Saved a
lot doing it myself!

Dayne Wright says:

Possibly…I am not 100% sure on this one. There shouldn’t be anything else
causing that problem because the actuator is the only thing moving during
that time. When you lock it manually does it have this problem?

meLIKEInfamous says:

Hi, i have the very same problem as you.Did you find out what was the issue
?

Prince Sasa says:

thanks man

laughmore51 says:

Really nice videos. Thanks. My 99′ Odyssey will close but not latch
completely. The door stays open just slightly and won’t make the final 1/2
inch that keeps the light and the buzzer on. Any thoughts?
