Thank you for the information

kenball1980 says:

i used 60 mm

kenball1980 says:

I used 2 grade 5 bolts (all I could find) and it worked just fine!!

kenball1980 says:

Thanks for the vid! I replaced all 4 rotors, the bearing pressed right out
with the air hammer in less than 2 minutes! The hardest part was separating
the ball joint from the lower control arm, I pounded on it with a sledge
hammer for a half hour and no go. I destroyed the boot on the first one
with a pickle fork. on the second, jacked up on the lca, stuck a 1/2 in
ratchet in between the lca and knuckle, dropped the jack, kicked down on
the top of the rotor, and BAM!! Popped right out!!

dondawg00 says:

Try in tools, part GDT5 will make this job a piece of cake without worrying
about hub or bearing damage, don’t even have to unbolt the knucke at all

rocker4204 says:

How did you end up doing it? I’m having that very same problem! D:

weborderaccounts says:

Would it be a good idea to put antiseize on the hub before pulling it back
in the knuckle?

747killa says:

I just did this earlier, and I was stressing because I was worried I would
get the rotars off, but instead I took the axle nutt off first, then the 4
fastner bolts, and tell why the rotar was loose off the bearing assembly so
easily then all I did was remove the back 4 bolts that hold up the bearing
assembly, didn’t need to hammer anything or use special tools. FYI my
rotars and bearings were super rusty, is this just a method to spend more
time, or was I just lucky switching things up my way?

somercet1 says:

Awesome vid, dude!!!

matt nigro says:

fuck im looking for alot of work to do on my 95 accord but any way i love
your videos i learn alot thank you!

Diarmaid Callaghan says:

To match up the extra long high grade steel bolts you use to air hammer the
bearing assembly out could a person just take one of the smaller holding
bolts out and head to the auto parts store to match it up? I’m only saying
this because you don’t seem 100% sure about the size and or thread pitch…

charlottetache says:

This vid is a nice help too! I’ll keep ya posted!

EricTheCarGuy says:

@teawins21 I’ve got a better idea, save yourself the trouble and take it
somewhere where they can machine the rotors on the car if there is enough
left to the rotor, if you have replaced them with new in the past there
should be plenty there to work with.

utoobube says:

@EricTheCarGuy Blaster or bust! YEAH, now thats my preferred penetrant!
That stuff is the best!

MrRankingToyan says:

man… fuck honda & this captive rotor bullshit… 93 honda accord pain &
my assholes

EricTheCarGuy says:

@MileyCyrus192 As I said I remove the knuckle on the other car because it
had other damage to it, if I remember correctly you were going to tell me
about a method of pressing these out, any progress on that?

MileyCyrus192 says:

I see you are replacing another Accord captive rotor. Thanks for telling
people what bolts you use on this video it help many people even me. You
got my idea of not taking the whole knuckle off the car and it does make it
easier if the knuckle is still on the car. Less of a hassle and replacing
it back on the car.

EricTheCarGuy says:

@fastvpbt1 That sounds like an alignment issue and I’m not sure if you can
correct it with an adjustment, you may have to replace some parts. Honestly
I would have to look at it for myself to really have an idea. Good luck.

EricTheCarGuy says:

@BushDoctor626 Me and Thor have been together for a long time and have
spent a lot of quality time together, we remain good friends to this day.

hobie slug says:

everything seems to come out so much easier in florida away from the
coasts. just look under a car and you can instantly tell a snow bird

Thomas Nguyen says:

Hey Eric, First of all thanks for all the informative videos, especially
the ones on the 5th gen accords. I recently picked up a 5th gen with almost
400k on the motor! Anyway, these captive rotors are such a bad design. I’ve
have to replace mine again soon. But I was thinking what if I went to a
junkyard and picked up a complete hub from an accord with non-captive
rotors. Would you happen to know if there will be any complications when
swapping them out or if it’ll even work? Thanks

MrIlovebmw86 says:

so glad i dont have these kind of rotors on my car. jesus that looks like a
pain in the ass

Stoneyburke says:

@EricTheCarGuy …….definitely better w/ceramic pads……no more squeal.

EricTheCarGuy says:

@Standingwithfeast Yea that way does sometimes cause a comeback for a wheel
bearing replacement, I’ve seen it happen more than once with people I
worked with, they were just into easy money. Thanks for your comment.

EricTheCarGuy says:

@an93l3 No need, it doesn’t have captive rotors. I think you might benefit
from the Rotor Screw video that I did.

EricTheCarGuy says:

@MrIlovebmw86 It can be.

snelzzy says:

Thank you very much Eric. I have been using a few of your videos to figure
out how to get a rotor off of my ’95 Accord Wagon.. It’s been hell w/o air
tools and most likely because of my impatience i sheared off a bolt on the
back and rounded off one on the front. I’ll get around that though but
still -__-“. At least the hard part is over. Thank you for your videos.

SMAAAASHTV says:

Is this the same for a 1998 Hyundai Accent? I need to replace my rotors and
it does in fact have captive rotors. I’ve read that you need a hub puller
to remove the hub assembly and a press to put the assembly back together.
Any help is appreciated.

Scott Tanner says:

eric the car guy is the best channel on you tube im out of work at the
moment as a mecanice but eric the car guy is ceping me in the no how!!!

Chris NC says:

Hey Eric, I have a 1990 Accord DX and my AC suddenly stopped blowing cold
air. I’m not sure if its the compressor or if it needs to be recharged. A
friend and I checked the pressure and there was none. Thats all I know. Any
advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris

EricTheCarGuy says:

@MileyCyrus192 Have you watched any of my other videos?

Thomas Nguyen says:

@EricTheCarGuy I wish I could do that but the rotors are already pretty
worn down. I might just suck it up and change the captive rotors…

TheDennyvu says:

@Bushougoma lol and then Chevy’s dumbasses decides to use captive rotors
instead

Rodney Philmon says:

ps awesome vid thanks alot.

EricTheCarGuy says:

@Derralllewis If it’s a 4 cylinder it has this set up I believe.

exbass94 says:

I HIGHLY recommend doing the rotor over hub conversion, so you only have to
deal with this job once. Future rotor changes will be 10000x easier.

GraniteBees says:

My 05 colorado has captive rotors and im pissed. But i have to replace the
front axle seal so i guess i might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone
