It gets very noticeably looser. Did you loosen the lower bolt of the
alternator? If that is still tight the alternator won’t move. Its the one I
used the universal joint to loosen and tighten.
I may not have been to explicit in the instructions, I try to get a good
step by step but I get working and I might have missed a couple details.
Just loose is fine – the alternator will move and then you should be good
to go. Good luck, I am heading to bed so if you have more questions I won’t
be able to answer until tomorrow morning.
Matthew, video thanks for this. I could not have gotten the alternator off
without your help. Unfortunately there was a mix up at the auto parts store
and they sold me the wrong alternator… Looks like the correct one is
about $300. Ouch. Now I wait for it to come in and then finish this
project.
thank you for this video
Glad I can help!
Glad I can help. Yeah, I had the same sticker shock when I went to buy mine
as well 🙂
Thanks for the video. How loose does the belt get when you adjust the belt
tension screw? I loosened the 12mm bolt referenced in the video and turned
the screw counter clockwise just about all the way but couldnt get the belt
loose enough to remove from the pulley. It feels just as tight when I
started. Any ideas?
Ahhh I guess I missed that from the video.I havent touched the bolt facing
the driver’s side that requires the U-Joint yet. Does it have to be
completely removed or just loosened a little? Thanks for your help!
this video saved my life, thank you so much for making this how to. I just
finished replacing my alternator I’d almost given up until I saw thus
video, awesome!!!!!
