Aleksandar Zivic says:

Does the valves get damaged when timing belt snaps due to the detrition? Is
that possible, cuz my timing belt snapped in the middle of the ride?

Matt D says:

Very descriptive but to the point and you stay on subject. Nice video bud!

gon ton says:

niice valve cover did u paint it ur self ?

Thomas Snyder says:

Dude your nails are gross

Ted Brown says:

ill be doing this on my 92 civic this weekend

zambatoo says:

heh 2hrs I dont think so… 5 hrs at a Honda Dealer is what they told me
but you have to figure they have done it 100 times and have all the tools
and another guy to help them Since 2005 they use a new material in Timing
Belts so you cant see the cracks anymore… they just look good until they
fail. Your video is really good it helps to see all the parts.THANKS ALSO
Amazon has lots of new hard to find parts for cheap

MZTHICKNSEXY100 says:

I have a 97 geo prizm 1.6 can i use this video to replace my water pump…

cp120x says:

The best way (and easieest) to remove the crankshaft pully is to jack the
car, remove the driver side wheel and the wheel well… It’s the best 7
minutes you can spend on this entire procedure… Make you save 30-45
minutes cause you have a wide open access to the down part.

glues4wood says:

@frylockthefryman U forgot FIAT Fix It Again Tony and another for Chevrolet
only shorter version Chevy Higher Engineers Very Young

wallace ben says:

This is to the author of this video: did you have any difficu lties with
rasing the valve cover ? I ask because my valve cover is not wanting to
budge at all. Could this be because of valve cover being glued to the
motore with gasket sealer?

rSxWiTHsLiCkS says:

Just a suggestion for the crank pulley.. Throw a ratchet on it and have it
rest against the ground or frame of the car. Bump starter and it breaks it
free. I’ve never tried this on a honda but I can’t see why this wouldn’t
apply..

chefman says:

You do know they make a tool to pull the crank pulley without the use of
nordic ingenuity. But cheers for creativity.

maddapache1 says:

@frylockthefryman hey dont worry about that guy. he’s just a troll. you
keep on truckin’. and you’re right. you can use an impact wrench on the
pulley. as long as you take it easy. by that i mean dont zip the socket on
full blast. use short, quick hits and you’ll be ok. and paying a tech to do
the work is for those who dont have the time or desire to try the work
themselves. either way its no harm. good vid too! keep it up.

frylockthefryman says:

@kzkevin888 My way didn’t damage my pulley but it was hard on the rubber
engine mounts. You can try penetrating oil but unless it’s rusted in I
doubt it would help much.I heard some people put thread lock on those bolts
and I don’t think penetrating oil would help against that. There’s also
special tools you can buy that are specifically made to hold the main
pulley.

TheTrell252 says:

Sohc……Naw Wrong video but cool tho

7511fsm says:

@frylockthefryman 181 ft/lbs for the crankshaft pulley bolt. Just FYI for
anyone wanting to know. Ref. Chilton’s manual.

lostnalone87 says:

@frylockthefryman thanks bro great vid btw i will try in a week and get
back to ya lol

dejavudogg says:

how long did all this take, i hate how u cant even star the job till u get
the crank bolt out

frylockthefryman says:

@shartasticful You may get lucky where when the timing belt breaks the
valves are closed enough to not get bent by the pistons but most people
with interference engines aren’t so lucky.

GGITS says:

Thanks for posting this. Lots of good info!

curt mcdirt says:

you didn’t worry about breaking the crankshaft pulley?

1968rory says:

why didn’t you just use a crankshaft tool?

gwnek111 says:

where did you learn cars? youve helped me a lot when i needed my 94 civic
lx fixed when i was broke. Respect for people like you man.

Dawged says:

Do you need to take the crankshaft pulley off to remove the lower timing
belt cover?

Abilash Mohan Ram says:

How did you get the pulley off? There are no threaded holed on it so I am
not able to use the webbed puller tool. And because only half the pulley is
accessible, I am not able to use the 3 prong hooked puller tool. Its bloody
frustrating. Any help is much appreciated.

frylockthefryman says:

I’m not familiar with that car but if it has an electric radiator fan then
it could be that the relay for the fan is going bad or something else could
be wrong in the electrical fan’s wiring system. May also be that one of
your head gaskets are leaking.

Kecia Byars says:

Do u turn to counterclockwise or clockwise?

Lady Edwards says:

Sorry: But why do you have to replace the followig things when you replace
a timing belt: tensor, water pump cam and crank seal and a valve gasket
cver? I went to a shop to get a quote and they told me that they recommend
I do all this as well andc they would charge me $550!

01V6 says:

With the crank tool it’s real easy to get that bolt out. O’Reillys even had
the exact tool I needed for rent (it was Honda specific). The one I did was
an F22

frylockthefryman says:

@cp120x The problem I had was removing the crank pulley bolt, it was on
very tight.

cartoonist1975 says:

No more Buying Manuels Thanks for having this . It really came handy to me
. I need to see it not read it !

frylockthefryman says:

@cartoonist1975 I prefer watching instead of reading many times as well.
Glad I helped you, thanks for watching!

emeryferrer says:

frylockthefryman says:

@chefman Yea but I really didn’t have the money so I had to improvise haha.
