Is a Honda 2000 the same??

Replaced my battery using this procedure. Not sure what happened by now my VSA and ABS lights are on. Also, if the ignition is in the ON position the automatic side doors will not open and make an alarm noise if I try and open them. The will open if the key is in the OFF position. Do you know how to reset this issue? Thank you.

I never use the radio, should I worry about getting the code?

My 06 Honda Ridgeline has J bolts holding the battery down. Kelly Honda in Lynn,Mass on the Lynnway sucks. They put in a new battery never clamped down the battery and put a screw at the terminal to make the clamp tight. No new J bolts or new clamp. They suck don't use Kelly Honda in Lynn Mass.

Thanks a lot, Jim. I own the same 2nd generation CR-V. So this is very helpful. Very detailed step-by-step explanation. Thanks again. Really enjoy your vids.

Just finished installing a new battery in my Honda Fit using these instructions. First time I've ever tried it and everything went fine. Excellent video, the best of all I came across. Regarding the radio code: I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this, but if you lose it, you can retrieve the code from Honda's web site: https://radio-navicode.honda.com/ . This costs nothing; beware sleazy sites that want you to pay them to get this info.

Thanx again, Jim!

Dude, you are a champion! These videos are the reason I have the guts to work on my own car.

Wasuchi says:

Just a heads up, but if you remove the battery on a newer Honda and lock the doors you can't open them again, can't pop the hood then. Why would one do this you may ask….. not the nicest neighborhood where the battery died, pulled the old one for the core and went and got a new one. Apparently the key in the door is just an electric switch.

Nick V says:

FYI. I have two Hondas. Honda places a sticker on the glove box with the serial number for the radio. Open glove box and check the sides. If the sticker is not on the side of the glove box, squeeze the sides and drop the glove box down. You will find the sticker on the back side of the glove box. If no sticker is there, check the underside of the fuse box cover in the engine compartment. If you still have not found the sticker, look inside the compartment between the two front seats.

Hi Jimthecarguy,
Thanks for showing me how to replace my car’s battery. I have a 2012 Honda CR-V. I have purchased a new battery that I want to install this weekend. My question is similar to the radio reset code. When I disconnect the old battery, will it affect my Honda Navigation System Memory or User Address Data. Or will I lose all my Honda Maintenance Minder Data when I disconnect my battery to install my new battery? Many thanks for your help and guidance! B.Rgds…Terry

I also had a question about the brand of battery you put in. I was going to ask the same thing that another viewer already asked but I am going to ask something different since you already answered the first part of my question. There are so many brands of batteries and they all claim to be good. Why do you think Interstate Batteries are the best. Are any of the store brand batteries any good like Autozone and Napa? Thanks for the video. I don't own a Honda but just enjoy watching on cars are repaired.

joel mccoin says:

Hi Jim, Do you use mostly interstate batteries? I have had really good luck with them. Good video, Thanks.

Jim I do have a question for ya, I had a similar setup as yours with the jump pac to the acc. Port to keep the computer alive a save the presets but once it didn't seem to make a good connection and I lost the setting as I removed the batt connections. Is there a way you can tell if in fact your connection is good and is going to keep the computer Alive ?

Eddie Martinez says:

Hey jim if you buy the car used and you dont have the number then you have to go to a dealer for the number?
