How To – Install Timing Belt (Honda Accord – 1992)

This is a fairly comprehensive video, and is true for most timing belts. Please feel free to ask any questions I will be happy to answer if I can. Thank you.

Vincent Scimeca says:

Is there any adjustments on the belt tensioner?

Jason Gordon says:

This was a very helpful clip. Picked up a few new tips. Thanks

Paul Labaun says:

so what happened to the metal object that was put in the balance shaft
locking hole? the one used as a “break” to keep the balance shaft from
moving replacing the 12mm bolt that plugs this opening that is needed to
prevent the balance shaft from spinning when being serviced. you called it
a “shiny rod”. it just disappeared at 20:07 into “uh o’s” file. gonna be
bad with a loose piece of metal floating around in there. whoops!!!

mkrp4 says:

There is simplified procedure (if you are changing only T-belt)
a) match mark old belt to the timed sprockets
b) remove old blets and transfer marks to the new belt
c) install the new belt using reference marks on the sprockets.
This will assure no slack between the pulleys (#1 mistake done while
changing t-belt))

a such a good educational video. god bless you brother

JesusManPowerKick says:

how long did this take to do?

Matthew Eddy says:

The time it takes will largely depend on how good you are. If you are
pretty experienced, have all the tools and don’t really run into any
problems (stuck bolts, etc) then I would say 4 hours. I think most people
should allow themselves at least 8. I am not sure how long it took me since
I did it an hour or so at a time over many days.
