@midimot That’s usually the case, however on this application the hood
support struts attached a little differently than on most vehicles.

They should be replaced in pairs. If you only replace one and they are both
the same age, all of the weight of the hood will be on the new shock and it
may wear it out faster.

That’s odd that you would have to unscrew anything. Most lift supports have
a spring clip that you pry off to remove the old support, then the ends of
the new one snap right on to the ball joint. The vid was shot too far away
to see the detail on that part.

Can this be done to basically install them on a 1996 Honda Accord. My car
is the 4 cylinder version and has that hood rod which gets in the way when
I am working on the engine. I want to install some hood struts on it. Will
this pretty much work?

@phazon1029 I don’t think the e4cyl has the provisions to mount the struts.
It could be done but I think it would be more work than it is worth.
