The egr is different between the two vehicles because the engines are built
differently.

@AGreedyTree That would depend what is the price of the part and a mechanic
uses a program to tell him the amount of time it will take so he will go by
that and the hourly rate. Remember at any shop you will be charged no
matter how long it takes him what the computer says so if it says 3 hours
and he can do it in 1 hour you will still be charged for 3 hours labor so
when ever you go in to a shop ask him to break down the charges like his
hourly rate and parts price.
You should use the correct part for the motor.

Is the EGR valve the same as the modulater valve?
If it tends to surge it could be the IAC.

If I clean up the one I have on my impala 3.8L version 2 is it recommended
that I replace the gasket or will the old one be okay? and is it still
30-35 ft lbs?
You will just have to keep looking because there needs to be some sort of
connection that goes to the sensor or it would not work correctly.
@mikediorio56 It could, you would more than likely also see white smoke
coming from the tail pipe too if you had a bad valve. Hope this helps you

The modulator valve controls the EGR valve in some vehicles.
hi i didnt see anything that connects my egr i mean the electrical socket

I just replaced the egr valve on my 95 explorer and now it idles at 1400 to
1500 rpm’s when it’s in park. When I put it in drive the rpm’s drop down to
1000 but no less. Any suggestions?
You may need to get a new gasket depending if the old one is still in good
condition or not.
You may want to check the code to see if there’s possibly something else
wrong with the EVAP system. It could be a stuck valve on the charcoal
canister, or even a vacuum leak in the engin bay somewhere.
If this valve was bad, would it make the car have a sleight misfire at idle?
what about for a 4 cyl 97 honda accord? is it much different?
