aliciadiaz56 says:

My regulator motor burnt out the other day and driver side, passenger side, and right back windows dony go down with the switch only the one on left behind the driver side. What may that be? Plus now when I lock my car with my remote it only turns on alarm and not lock my doors. Does the regulator motor have anything to do with it? I hardly know these stuff, first car and im trying to learn on how to fix stuff on my own

Sam Thepsourinthone says:

Thank you information that is awesome.

Hi Elliot, Part# is usually not reg or motor. As for getting the window down if it is stuck in the up position, it will be pretty tricky since the Civic doesn’t have a cable you can just cut to drop the glass and regulator. Hard part will be getting the bolts off that mount the glass to the regulator. You would have to use small tools to get in and loosen those bolts up. It’s a big pain to do it. However, 1st thing to do is loosen the regulator off of the door shell – that should help drop a bit

Elliot Coupe says:

Super job on the video! two questions. Rear drivers passenger window in 96 civic GLI, window is in full up position. How do I drop window to access bolts through door frame? There also seems to be numerous motor assys on market. Will the part number be on removed motor? Thanks in advance.

Hey, I’m needing some help. My new window regulator has two wires (red and black) while the control module that they go to has 4 (red, black, yellow, blue) Is there a way to wire this where it will work correctly? I’m completely stumped

I have a 2003 Accord and couldn’t find a video for that model, but this one is similar enough that I was able to get the job done and save myself a hefty dealer repair bill. An tip for others…I read somewhere to use a hair-dryer to soften the glue as you peel away the white moisture barrier, and this worked really well. After I got the new unit in place, I was able to put the barrier back on without any tape or additional glue. Thanks for this awesome video!

ahparts says:

Most likely. They always break unless you are very careful. 🙂

Rene Muniz says:

that little cap at the very end broke didnt it?lol

SlaughteredInside says:

Thank you very much. I believe this may be the case for me. Also my power locks aren’t working anymore either which I believe is also linked to the main power switch. Thank you for your help. I’ll post the results soon.

ahparts says:

Hi there,

If one regulator is broken, the other ones will still work. The only time something like that can happen, is when sometimes if the main window switch goes out, some of the other windows stop working. But that is extremely rare.

Thank you

SlaughteredInside says:

If the regulator is broken, will none of the power windows work? Or can it still work on drivers side and none of the other windows? This is apparently the case with my 96 civic. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

ahparts says:

You’re welcome. Glad we were able to help

ty so much for the video man,..keep up the good work.

ahparts says:

I would use your car battery to give the regulator direct power.

Basically, take the door panel off of your car, then get wires going from your battery to the window motor plug. That way you bypass the window switch and see if the regulator works on its own. If it works, then you know you have a different issue, such as window switch/fuse. Most likely it is the switch or regulator. I would troubleshoot it that way.

Uly Freeman says:

Question:

I recently changed my regulator about 4 months ago and just recently my door started making clicking noise and I checked it out but no problem. Then just recently I lowered my window and it wouldn’t go back up. Is it a problem with the regulator or just the master control panel? Honda Accord 96. I think it’s the motor but I’m not sure exactly. Also how am I suppose to move the window up? I can’t push it back up cause it’s tightly at the bottom. Thanks!

ahparts says:

You’re welcome. Glad you enjoyed.

I need to change out the wiring from the driver door to the car in my ’97 Civic. It was punctured when my door was bent backward. Any videos or suggestions on how I can re-wire that?

ahparts says:

Hi there, check our other regulator tutorial. You might have to cut the cable. See our other video on how to do it.

R Luna says:

what if the window is stuck in the up position? how do i disconnect it from the regulator?

bolonypwny says:

Wife’s MDX’s rear passenger window just went out today, this video saved me about a $500 repair bill. All the steps worked perfectly to remove the piece, and I go pick up the new regulator tomorrow. Thanks for the video, guys!

ahparts says:

Glad it helped. Let us know how your experience is when you do it.

Leif Larson says:

absolutely amazing video. definitely going to help me tomorrow on my 2001 crv.

ahparts says:

Hi there,

Handle can definitely be replaced by doing just the steps shown for the handle. If your window goes down fine but up slowly, it may be from the motor and the fact that it works harder when going up instead of down. Maybe the teeth on your regulator are worn down. When it goes up it works harder since it is pushing a glass up without the help of gravity. Another possibility is that the window channel (rubber) that the window slides up and down in, may be worn or need lube

avsdavidt1 says:

Thank you this informative and high quality video. The windows on my 1994 Honda Accord go down quickly but don’t go up as smoothly. Any idea what might be wrong? Also, can the inside door handle be replaced by itself? Thanks.
