2001 Acura 1.7EL; I determined SRS light was on because of a faulty buckle.
The buckle actually would not click in anymore so I replaced it for almost
$400.00 (part only) from Fairview Acura in Kitchener. Afterwards when I got
a new timing belt installed, they noted the SRS light was on. I asked them
to reset it while it was in the garage. They wouldn’t reset it without
charging me $60.00 and whatever diagnostics fees to find out why is was
enabled. I already fixed the problem I just wanted the SRS reset. Hence for
the last 2 years I have been driving with this idiot light on because of
the bad customer service in Kitchener. Denis Bro! Thank You for the
information.

Aaron Liu says:

Thanks, I am going to try this soon. I truly appreciate the the step by
step guide. It was clear and straight forward.

Steen Lauridsen says:

Thanks for sharing this video man. This was exactly what was wrong with my
car. You saved me big bucks!

Damian Rollinson says:

Thanks Denis.

Worked a treat on my wife’s 2000 odyssey except the belt harness didn’t
have screws to undo so here’s what to do.
To find which buckle is giving you the problem deactivate srs light and
then buckle a belt in one at a time srs light will light up when the faulty
one is engaged
I had to remove a plastic side seat cover 1 philips screw holding it just
below seatbuckle bolt carefully pull cover off.
Then unbolt seat buckle harness from the seat mount (14mm socket or
spanner) spin unit it around (as wires are holding it in place) and pry the
casing off with a screwdriver as it is conveniently glued. Pierce red micro
switch seal and spray in there with some wd40 then deactivate SRS light.(It
took a few goes to get sequence right.) Try the microswitch a few
times..SRS light stays off superglue buckle cover back on. Bolt back on to
seat. Refit sideseat cover. DONE!
And like me u can put that money u didn’t have back in your pocket.
SWEEEEET.

Great Video, Denis! It worked on my 2001 Civic initially, but the ‘SRS’
light come back a month later…. I did clean the buckle contact like in
your video. Denis I wonder what does it mean that ‘SRS’ come back later
after your procedure ? Is there other things that could trigger SRS to come
on besides contact not clean ? should I just do your procedure again ?
Thanks.

Im very impressed. Great job slow, very clear. Hope you can post more on
the 01 civic. Just bought one for my daughter. Has 183, 000 on it but runs
great.THANKS

guilde says:

I think its important to follow the directions to the T, make sure you are
connecting and seperating at the correct time. You can’t just dump the
wires in and put them in or pull them out at a whim.

TheBlueboyfan says:

great video, hope this works on my 01 civic. thanks bro

kokovq says:

Fantastic video thx

Denis Poirier says:

It doesn’t actually connect to anything in the fusebox, it just clips there
for storage. So, yes put it back but it will still work even if you don’t.

brizzlefizzle says:

2:42 That’s what she said.

hombre83 says:

From what I have been reading on the web, it seems that Canadian dealers do
not cover seatbelts under a lifetime warranty. My dealership is’nt the best
to deal with. But I will give it a shot. Thanks again for your video. Its
awesome when people post videos like this to help the masses from being
outrageously ripped off.

ivan886m says:

“stick it in the right holes”;)

TheRacetothebottom says:

Great video. Saved me $385. I didn’t cut out the small red rubber grommet.
I got an insulin syringe and loaded it with contact cleaner and worked the
needle between the pin and the grommet and injected the cleaner directly
into the switch. You can buy these syringes at any drugstore for about $3
for a package of 10. They are handy anytime you need to lubricate small
parts. Also, it is a good idea to stuff a rag down between the buckle and
the seat in case you drop a screw.

Edt Quan says:

Excellent video! Thanks so much! This worked on My 2004 Element. Hopefully,
the SRS light won’t come back on.

Denis Poirier says:

On mine I can just pull off the plastic trim that the lighter socket is
mounted to but on later years it’s different. I shouldn’t be too hard to
take it out.

bobbyishigh says:

Thanks so much man, i had this exact problem (9-3)! You saved me a ton of
cash! To be honest i just reset it for now, i want to see if the light
comes back on. If it does ill do the cleaning method. Is it alright that i
just reset the SRS light for the time being? Thanks again!

Mac Motors says:

Thanks a Lot !

Edd Stark says:

This video is perfect! Thank you a lot!! God bless you man it works
perfectly!

Ken says:

Awesome video! I have a 2002. Checked the code per your advice and it was a
9-3. However, I didn’t notice the seatbelt switch/light malfunctioning, so
I just reset the SRS light, figuring maybe it was a freak occurrence. I
used two paper clips instead of one to quickly toggle on the yellow plug;
using one seemed unmanageable.

Sebastian Rogers says:

you rock man this worked for my 2002 RSX Type s

Denis Poirier says:

Thanks! I could not find a video explaining this so I decided to make one.

hombre83 says:

Rather than opening up the belt buckle and cleaning it as you say in your
video, is it possible to fix the 9-3 issue by replacing the full buckle
assembly with a buckle from another used car of salvage vehicle ? Do you
think that will work ? I have the 9-3 code issue on my driver side. Also,
my passenger side, the buckle does not work properly. I have to either jab
it really hard or keep trying a few times to get it to hold the belt clip
in the buckle.

Denis Poirier says:

I got it from our local “Princess Auto” store. You can order online if
there is no such store where you are.

DAcanyousaymreyes says:

lol i sticked my finger in the right hole 2:40

Cory Schadt says:

I really appreciate this video. Thanks for posting

Bernardo Gomez P says:

Thank you! your video was really useful.

iOS Fan says:

Do I still get free seatbelt for my second hand Acura rsx?

newtonpippin says:

What if I get code 4 short 4 short 1 long 1 long?

pine187 says:

Thanks for that video!! This is so much simpler than I thought! Knew about
the contact cleaner in the buckle but not the yellow connector. Thanks! I
noticed the cover on your 12V power source seems to have broken off, as
mine just did. I can buy a new plastic ring w/cover, but can’t see how to
remove the old one. Seems like it’s not worth doing at all. You agree?
