How To Fix a Honda Door That's Stuck

If your door won’t unlock on your Honda CRV or Honda Cvic 1998,1999,2000,2001 then a common problem is a faulty spring. This video shows you how to replace this spring the easy way.

Part number of spring I used is E0240-026-1000-S. You can buy it from here:

Is this also a fix for the manual door lock not being able to be pushed down?

Alfie Taylor says:

Such a legend mate. Took me ages to get spring installed but definitely worth, by far the best tutorial. Thanks

Max Garvue says:

you think this will work on a 97 crv? driver side door wont open

Wynn Horton says:

You did a great job with the video. I suspect my lock is broken because I allowed someone to unlock that door without a key a year or so ago….with that long shimmy tool that goes though the window slot.

dreja123 says:

My civic '96 won't unlock, if I turn the key, but only sometimes. It seems, that something is "clogged", because internal "door lock switch" moves only a little bit. Did you have the same problems, or you was your issue permanent ? Thanks Andrej

Could the lock mechanism itself be bad if the door locks and unlocks? 2000 Civic EX Coupe

Captain 4 Lug says:

does this work for 94-97 accord? it wont open from the inside.. i have to either have someone open the door from the outside for me or i have to lower the window down and reach around from the outside

1997 Civic hatch with inside door lock switch wont lock, meaning I can't lock the door from the inside but I can use the key to lock and unlock

Monty Daniels says:

@Vegan Dog. My 1998 Honda Accord's front drivers door inside & out handles seem to move all the way up. I can hear the Actuator working. Since I have the door panel out, do you know where I can slide a narrow screwdriver into the opener & pry it open?

Malcolm Adlington says:

Thank you! You have saved my CRV from death by fire …

Humberto Hernandez says:

Does anyone know or seen a video for a 91 accord driver side? Please let me know.

Glen Godden says:

An excellent way to fix this problem. Video helped me a great deal. I have subscribed.

Isaiah Alexander says:

thanks for making such a great video you really helped me out

Hurricane says:

So do you have a part number for the spring?

It's Just Renee` says:

How do you open the door to fix it?

Jam Hoe says:

So if the spring is the issue you don't need to bother trying to pick the latch open? Just replace the spring? Is there a part number? I've yet to open my panel. I ordered a lock assembly cause I thought I'd need one. Figured it wouldn't do me any good to open the door if I couldn't fix it.

Danuta Wieloch says:

Bardzo ciekawy i przydatny filmik, szkoda, ze nie ma instrukcji po polsku. Mamy podobny problem w Polsce z naszą Hondą. Prosimy o dalsze filmiki z instrukcjami napraw. Pozdrawiam.

Asia Wieloch says:

This looks simple, but do you know how much a mechanic would charge to do it as my door gets stuck?

Andrew Locke says:

really great tips, I would never thought of doing it this way. It saved me so much time. Thanks a lot.
