Pradeep,
The only fluids I would get from the dealership is the Honda coolant and
the Transmission fluid. You could pickup 0w20 oil in any automotive parts
supply store and even WalMart. I usually look for what is on
sale/discounted.

ammosimplycosts2much says:

Just because someone uses a full synthetic doesn’t mean they wont get
engine sludge. It is all about the right OCI for your car. With any blend,
you can easily expect 5-6K miles without a flinch.

SlammaJamma says:

will this be the same for a 2014 Civic LX? My mom has one and I want to
change her oil but want to know if everything is pretty much the same
before I go and change it. thanks.

Eduardo Ibarra says:

I really appreciate the time you invest creating this useful video. I have
a 2012 Civic Lx (Coupe) and I learnt a lot by watching this video. One
thing, may you please list the name of the parts/accesories that you used
in your video, such ad the black thing where your tire is resting, the
black plastic container where the oil was poured, and everything else you
used. I would like to purchase on Amaxon all the exact things you used
while making your oil change. If you make a video of how to makr an AC
recharge on this car it would be very appreciated.

8-Bit Miata says:

This video is why Youtube was invented. Simple, informative, and to the
point. Great job!

leefiles says:

Nice fast-forwarding. Benny Hill moment.

Felix Loaiza says:

Great Video and very helpful, one question only, how do I know that exact
amount of new oil to put in after draining the old one, I’ll buy the 5qts
bottle of oil, so I don’t want to go over nor less, how do I know? I have
an civic SI 13 so which oil do u recommend me?? Thankssss

jim wright says:

Dear Sir: After reading the customer manual, I find that it mentions a
washer that is required behind the drain plug. I asked the dealer and he
stated that if you do not install a new washer every time you change the
oil, you void the warranty for the vehicle. He stated that all Honda oil
filters come with the new washer for the drain plug. Do you replace the
washer? Thanks

Lai Saeteurn says:

I, also, have honda civic 2012. What is the part number for the oil filter
you used?

sahmadi1000 says:

Thank you for the video. I like to add my 2 cents to your video for the
beginners.. First, ‘s better to change your oil after the engine is warmed
up. I suggest you run your car at least for 10 minutes so that it drains
better. The other thing is that when the dealer changes your oil and
filter, they change you about $60 and they only use regular oil. I think
if they change your oil with Moil 1 synthetic like this gentleman, they
will charge you more. I hope this motivates the young people including my
own children to do their own oil change for better results and savings.

JayaShanks says:

Would you recommend using a Fram oil filter or would it be better to use
the honda OEM oil filter?

vlegaspi says:

Hey man where did you get those skid plates? Because i dont think my car
has one

Pradeep Ranchod says:

Hi Eddie thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! I would like to know
where I could buy OW20 oil other then a dealership? We have 2012 Honda
Civic LX.

OwnsGermany says:

Extremely informative video! No one touches the skid plate issue and I’m
glad you did! I’m done with the local Honda dealership around here giving
me unreliable service changes (which were at bargain prices too!) and have
taken matters into my own hands with our 2012 Civic.

stevemichelle1203 says:

I just checked the under Cardiff for my Honda Civic Si 2013 and saw that
there is in fact a skid plate covering my oil pan area. Interesting.

Jesse Gil says:

Great video. Easy to follow and I would like to know where you got that oil
valve or what it is called.

Jonas Spira says:

Best how-to video i’ve seen. Thanks! =D

Pascal Votan says:

always use fresh oil to lub a new oil filter gasket ;)

David Anderson says:

I’ve done a lot of oil changes in my life from living on a farm changing
everything from tractors to my family’s cars and Eddie even taught me
something – that oil drain valve which I think is by Fumoto is ingenious –
just bought one.

Great job Eddie! Keep up the good work!

Hello_Everyone says:

Where do you take the old oil?

Eric Lopez says:

Whats the reason why you chose Mobil 1? And what weight and grade did you
use?

Noomba88 says:

Wow, I can not loosen the oil nut for the life of me. Even after banging on
my wrench with a hammer, that thing is in there good. Great video by the
way.

Finally got it after pushing off the wheel with my feet and pulling the
wrench with my hands. Jeez.

Eric Lopez says:

You should share a video on how to change the AC filter, and the Air
filter.

Robert Astorga says:

Hey i just bought a 2012 civic ex thanks for the help and knowledge on the
oil change and on/off valve worked out great one my ride… more vids
please on the civics

mmuseb says:

Is this the same as an si civic trim?

Eric Lopez says:

Very helpful thank you….. Also, Where can I find that qwik Fumoto
valve?..

hans76sg says:

Thanks for the well made video. Any chance you plan to do a vid on changing
ATF?

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

I have not try getting under the car without driving it up on a ramp, but
the Civic being so low to the ground I would think that would make the job
very difficult. The ramps costed about $50 at Walmart, the money and the
time saving would be worth you investment of $50.

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

I just look at it myself and you are right it is very difficult to see thru
the overflow bottle but I did see the shadow of the coolant and my coolant
was just above the MIN marker, so I added a little Acura/Honda coolant. I
did type uses a flash light and that made it even more difficult to see.
Just make sure you only use the pre-mixed Acura/Honda coolant. Yes, they
cost a lot more money but do take a chance on it. The money you save could
cost you.

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

thanks! and thanks for watching!

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

That is an amazing idea. What did you do about the oil filter?

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

Thanks so much. I can’t believe I have so many viewer and so many positive
feed backs. The funny thing is I was really focus on my cooking videos to
help people easily and quickly cook a good meal. That is why my handle is
Eddies Survival Skills.

Tom Giannos says:

Eneos is Rare oil … its From japan 0w 20 full synthetic its GREAT

Gus Vergara says:

Your video was great it helped me locate the oil filter and drain plug to
my 2013 Honda civic si

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

No problem! I’m glad I can help! Thanks for watching!

Matthew Albuquerque says:

Friendly and informational rsrs

Dro Simoes says:

I use Jackstands Personally, and they work great. They’re worth the money
if you’re going to work on your own car from here on out. I bought the
cheaper ones and the more expensive ones, and both are still working great
with no issues. I would recommend pushing your car before getting under it
to make sure it’s on and secure.

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

There are no engine changes between the 2012 Civic and the 2013 Civic, so
your oil change process is the same. The big differences are some exterior
and interior upgrades. The interior upgrades makes the 2013 a lot quieter
and smoother than the 2012.

changbruce says:

How often do you change the oil? And do you plan to do any other
maintenance tips?

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

I think most of the newer cars have undertrays to give it better air flow,
to get better MPG. I have a 2007 VW GLI that also has an undertray that
must be removed before I could change it’s oil and oil filter. I which the
automakers would design the cars to give us easier access to both the oil
drain plug and oil filter but than again that would cut into their profits,
because that would let too many people do our own oil changes.

Rom Bal says:

Thanks again. Love the video; very thorough!!

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

GREAT TIP about pushing the car!!! Thanks

Edgardo Amado says:

Can u please make a video on how to change the rear drum brakes

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

The Fumoto Qwik Valve comes with its own set of washers and once install
you will never have to deal with the Honda crush ring washers again because
you will never have to remove the drain plug again, and that is why I
changed out the factory drain plug with a Fumoto Qwik Valve.

David Tsai says:

Awesome Video! Now does it matter if I have Honda Civic 2013? Is it the
same way to change the oil? On the system it shows I have 50% of oil left
but my mileage have 5k. Would you change the oil by the mileage or the
system telling you how much it have?

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

I sorry I don’t know anything about ENEOS oils. But I do know that all full
synthetic oils from all the major oil companies are superior to the
standard oil, so I think you doing very well.

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

Yes, the is the new recommended oil weight. 0w20 may get you better MPG
over 5w20 because it is a thinner oil. I personally don’t trust that a 0w20
or even the 5w20 could take the hot summers in Southern California because
I am use of using a 5w30 for all my prior Hondas and Acuras. Today it is
all about MPG with all the auto makers and the thinner the oil the better
your MPG. I my mind the 5w20 could handle the heat better than the 0w20 (I
could be wrong because I am not an oil guy).

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

It really makes my day to know I was able to help. Thanks for watching.

Eddies SurvivalSkills says:

I am so glad you have found my video helpful.
