tool boy – you don’t screw the dipstick in to measure the oil – it shows
that right by the opening. i’ll give you one given you are a cornholer.
and man, that oil was BLACK – i’d recommend changing more often.

Mike Tooth says:

Tool Dude is the best. I was looking for the bolt on the bottom. Thanks
for setting me straight

Bobby Allahyar says:

Thanks for the video man, really appreciate it

armadaofp00p says:

One question do i have to emty the gas tank before i tilt to the side?

Mike F says:

Honda doesn’t recommend screwing in dipstick to check the oil level. Just
put it in without screwing it in. Briggs & Stratton requires screwing it in
fully to check you level. Otherwise good video.

At first i confused you for god, cause you answered my prayers.. #yourtheman

Matt P. says:

Your not supposed to screw the dipstick in to check the oil.

kaidtolaa says:

Ok, it look easy. I’m going to do it this weekend. Thanks.

Erik Liska says:

+Matt P. why not?

knotty ash says:

there’s video on here that tell you, that you dont have to screw the dip
stick in to get the true level of your oil level just dip it in till it
reaches the thread if you get me

goose004 says:

Thanks for the vid. I’m going to do it right now.

Tool Dude Tony says:

@Rikkiziggy70 – I was surprised that they don’t use a drain plug on the
bottom of the engine too. I had to check the owners manual to validate that
this is how Honda says to do it. And yes, you do need to drain the gas or
let it run until it is used up before flipping the mower. Thanks for the
comment.

George Chambless says:

Great video. I am borrowing my sister’s mower with a Honda engine and I’ve
never seen oil so black. Good to know I have to use the ‘tip it over’
method to drain it, and how much to refill it. Any updates of whether we
need to screw in the dipstick when checking the oil level? Thank you!

stchman says:

Have you ever changed oil on a 4 stroke mower with a drain plug. A lot of
times the drain plug is almost impossible to find as there is so much grass
caked around it.

Rikkiziggy70 says:

I can’t believe Honda doesn’t have the drain plug under the mower deck.
I’ve never had a Honda engine on my mowers(Briggs and Stratton on mine).
B&S has the drain plug under the deck that uses just the 3/8 drive
extension to loosen it. The oil drains out quick. The only thing is that I
use 2 saw horses and 2 small pieces of wood to have a clear opening for the
drain while the mower sits on top. I like tipping it better but if the gas
isn’t drained completely, wouldn’t it flood? Good video.

Dave B says:

Nice video. I’m fairly confident, however, that you dont actually screw the
dipstick in to check the oil. I have a honda generator and 160gcv and both
manuals state not to screw in the dipstick.

Tool Dude Tony says:

Yes. You can use a pump to remove the oil. Just do what you can to get as
much out as possible.

lynn neff says:

Manual sez DO NOT screw in dipstick

george crofts says:

I agree never though it would not have a drain plug thanks Tony

Tool Dude Tony says:

Hi George — Thanks for all the great feedback. On the dipstick question:
Do not screw it back in to check the oil level. Just it in the hole and go.
Thanks again.
