Honda EU2000i No Power or Throttle Control – Fixed for $25

This Honda EU2000i stopped making power and the engine is racing out of control. These are classic signs of a bad inverter. Hopefully the inverter is not bad, because the replacement cost is likely more then the machine is worth.

I no longer use Harbor Freight Super Heavy Duty Degreaser in my ultrasonic cleaner. Harbor Freight changed the recipe. The bottle previously stated “NON-CORROSIVE”. Now it says “CORROSIVE”, “do not user on Aluminum”. It now damages most carburetors. Recently I have been using Simple Green PRO HD with good results.

James! That broken plastic tray boss is a perfect issue for PlastiFix!

@davidkarath6549 says:

Just wondering…do you have a hammer impact..I used to use one to remove Phillips head screws on my Honda scrampler

@highrx says:

Excellent. I like to clean off the threads of the bolts and screws then rub some paraffin wax on the threads before reinstalling.

attentiontodetails, attention to details, Attention To Details!!
This was one of the best and most common small portable generators.
Also, one of the most expensive…at the time.
Great job, James.
Just goes to show that virtually any GOOD quality machine can be serviced AND repaired.
(Of course, the availability of GOOD parts may be a limiting factor.)
Thanks again for good content and an interesting video!!

James, Wasn't there a trimpot to adjuxt the output voltage of the inverter to 120. 126 volts seems a bit high to me.

@RoyArmy-WREW918 says:

You do know that you could plug the heater into the Kill-A-Watt and see exactly what kind of load your pulling, right??? The Kill-a-watt is rated @ 15 A /120VAC for total wattage of 1800W or 1.8KW

@billy123174 says:

Very tight space with these generators but yet again you did it,

@grantfoster994 says:

I fix broken plastic parts like that all the time using SEM dual mix 39747 panel bond adhesive.

Love these machines. Have an Eu10i! Best small generator available!

@ScottDLR says:

These are always interesting (in part because I have one) . The most impressive thing about these to me is their immense surge capacity. I have a meter to monitor voltage and current in my RV and even though these are rated for 13.x amps, I've seen it happily cranking out 16+. amps. It blew away my buddies similarly sized Yamaha.
– Thanks James.
