Thanks for the tutorial. I went into a local repair shop to have a sensor
replaced which should have cost me a couple hundred dollars. They called me
and told me that my distributor seal, inner, was leaking and was a real
fire danger. They wanted to charge me $550 for a new distributor, I talked
them down a hundred and a half or so, and I guess I still got screwed. The
owner of this repair shop has his own tv show locally and is always talking
about how folks get cheated at repair shops; I guess he’s an expert because
he is so good at cheating his own customers.

Patrick Duniphin says:

many people have reported frying the coil by not disconnecting the battery
before removing the distributor cap. nobody can seem to explain why..but
its a known problem. i ignored this..when i removed my cap..my coil went
bad..

felicia fridley says:

where do you order the inner shaft seal for the hatachi distributor what
site?

j manuel says:

It’s coming from housing. When ihad it off if I rotated shaft by hand id
hear a click. It didn’t do this before the repair bt i double checked and
everything seems to be right?

sparkyd82 says:

I have a 97 civic dx my problem is I cant find a oil seal for that year not
on the internet
or dealerships. All dealerships say I have to buy the whole assembly over
$300. The oring is easy to find but the distributor seal is impossible. I
bought off ebay but the seal was the wrong size.

Rafy G says:

After watching this video i rather replace the whole distributor..

angelisone says:

If installing the distributor assy and the car idle very low, below 250
rpm, which direction should you turn the distributor assy before tighten
down those three 12mm bolts?

Nice video.

Kiran K. Pandit says:

Very informative video.

I went ahead and replaced a O-ring in the distributor because there was an
external oil leak.
I had the position of the rotor marked with permanent marker when i took it
off but during wiping of the excess oil, the marks were also wiped out,
yeah call me a dummy
I installed the distributor back into it’s place and fitted perfectly,
drove the vehicle and seems ok, just a little tighter gas pedal.
I have read people talking about a 180 degree rotation of the rod and think
i might have placed the rotor wrong.
How can i fix it, how can i confirm that the rotor is placed perfectly?
Will it cause a damage to the engine if the rotors aren’t placed exactly
the way how it came out?

It is for 1999 Honda Accord EX V6

Markie Rydman says:

I just got done replacing the internal seal and outer O-Ring. Also did the
Valve Cover Gasket job, replaced spark plugs and wires as well. All thanks
to the two videos of yours. And guess what… The Heater Hose underneath
the distributor popped open while I was testing it after the repair. And
now I’m ordering the hose and watching your other video to get ready for
that one. Lol

j manuel says:

hey bushougoma i replaced seal and or ing on my 98 accord v6 and now my car
idles high 1500-2000 and accelerates without pressing pedal?? help

Markie Rydman says:

I’m curious about why it is necessary to replace the rotor.. I’m no
veteran, so I want to be sure I order all the parts needed before I begin,
and not leave out any steps.

Mr. Westwood says:

Thanks for making this video. Very helpful in completing the repair.

I also tested Cylinder Position sensor for good measure. For anyone
interested, CPS resistance should be 350-750 k/Ohms in 94-97
models(non-vtech). It may vary with Vtec, so consult your service manual.
Thanks again.

j manuel says:

Hey bush I did this again on a 94 accord ex hitachi dizzy and now the
distributor ticks

MrMechanicandy says:

Bushougoma Have you done the pick up assy. on the older distributors,
everything about the same but the pick up is around the shaft. I think I
can push the shaft on the top after the bottom offset gear is removed and
push it out the top I see no video for this and I cant find a good reman
distributor thanks for any help . .

jcwat says:

Hi my 95 accord has the hitachi distributor, will the process still be the
same? Thank you

sexmiester2000 says:

Sorry if this has already been asked, when you are installing the new
internal seal is it supposed to be flush/level with the lip on the inside
of the distributor or are you supposed to push it in (seat it) until it can
not go in any further and it sits flat against the bottom/outside wall of
the housing?? Thanks

francisco morales says:

Que pasa si al distribuidor le esta entrando aceite.

MrJilm says:

Great video. Swapped out both the o-rings and cleaned everything up. Have
you ever swapped out a distributor for a direct ignition system in 94
accord?

Vinicius Zucco Felipe says:

Nice video !
congratulations !

Marcus Brereton says:

thanks for saving me some $$$$$$$$$$$$$

BlizzyMobile ModsReviews says:

Bianchi Sanremo says:

Awesome, thanks for making this video.

Andrés3006 says:

Greta video, now a can fix my old honda, thanks.

j manuel says:

so would this process basically be the same on a 98 accord v6 dizzy??

Mr. Westwood says:

My rotor has wear towards the end button, a short shiny ring all the way
around the rotor.. Is this to be expected? Can my distributor still be
refurbished is the rotor is worn a bit?

Josue Aviles says:

Thanks man it was very very helpful

Josue Jean-baptiste says:

I really like this video. Sounds and pictures are great. This guy really
knows what he is talking about. I hope he posts more video for Honda
Accord.

Rafael Roca says:

Hi bushougoma, i have a doubt my distributor is tec but the ignition
control module is hitachi and i buy tec it’s a difference in the
connection?

Brian Montiel says:

Thank you you’ve helped me stop a small problem form turning to huge one.
I’m in need of a online location where I can purchase the internal and
external.??

Mark Goodpett says:

Good video. Clear instructions, closeups when necessary, and tips to keep
timing and distributor lines up.

Fredy Mendez says:

Pls. can you tell me what else I can do. I Changed like 6 different
distributors to my Honda Odyssey but at the next day it is leaking. I
returned it to the Auto Parts Shops and I got the replacement but is the
same thing . What could be happening or is in the installation? thank you
Fredy.

Samuel Qassom says:

+Bushougoma I’ve got a 2001 Honda Accord. I’ve had the car since the
beginning and have done all reparis myself. I know this is the original
distributor and I can see that it’s the Hitachi brand. My problem is that I
don’t see that my distributor has a ring pin on it?! I’m lost. I can
forward a pic if you’d like, but I’m stuck and don’t know how to continue
taking it apart to finish replacing the inner gasket. Thanks!!

Daniel Aguilar says:

This video was very informative, thanks! I have two questions. I have a 97
acura cl 2.2. My car has a almost same engine as the car you worked on in
this video. First question is, from the info you provided my car is a obd2
vehicle, how would I adjust the timing after i replace both seal external
and internal? Would I just pop the distributor back in and thats it?
