c landers says:

Where did you get the wiring extension? Did you just use wire and some
attachment? My civic is doing the same thing and I need to repair the
broken wire

Champ Band says:

What kind of tool did you use? I heard power pro? is it right? how much is
the tool?

saladfingers360 says:

Wow, thank you so much for this video. I had this problem on my 98′ Civic
LX for over a year… I knew it was a ground wire issue but I just didn’t
know how to fix it. It was a little more difficult on the 98′ but the
concept was the similar and I had to solder the connection because the
break was so close to the connector. Thanks again for the vid

FireWater1973 says:

This just happened to my accord…anyone know how to fix?

Paul Martin says:

The right rear door lock of my accord tries to move but it just sits there
while all the others unlock properly. I can hear the actuator working the
lock put it won’t come up all the way. What do you think the problems is.
Could it just need lubrication?

Sahil Patel says:

This is great informative video. I have a similar problem on a 2003 Pilot.
The front passenger side Lock does not work either by remote control or
driver side Central lock button. What should i do to diagnose the locking
system?. Thanks in advance,

Kevin AutoTechU says:

In most cases it’s a defective lock cylinder. They can become weak over
time and eventually stop working. The proper way to diagnose the lock
cylinder would be with a test light to confirm 12v and ground are being
sent to the actuator. Just doing a Google search tells me you can probably
get a replacement actuator for $25.00. While I’m not a big fan of just
“throwing parts” at a problem, that’s cheap enough to be a viable option.

Ben Rodgers says:

I cannot open the driver door with my key because the lock got loose or
something and now the key goes in but does no turn. The power locks still
work though. What should i do? Now Every time i turn the car on the alarm
goes off because i had to break in because i accidentally locked myself
out.

Kevin AutoTechU says:

What year is your car?

Mike Math says:

my power door lock on my Integra does not work in any door..i test the
actuator..and its good, check the wire harness…no break the wires…check
fuse..it good also…help..thanks

Ace Romero says:

Awesome. Spent a little while troubleshooting but never got this far.
Thanks.

The2000Prelude says:

Does the driver side door lock always lock all four doors when the car door
is closed? It doesn’t do it on my 2001 Civic and I’m not sure if it is
broken.

john strader says:

i have a 01 civic ex coupe, and my passenger door lock is not working, do i
proceed with the same steps you did on the driverside door to check the
wires?

Kevin AutoTechU says:

When you say”from the outside”do you mean by sticking the key in the
hole,or by pressing the “unlock” button on your key fob(remote control on
your keyring) If it is NOT unlocking by sticking the key in the keyhole
then you have a linkage problem from the backside of the keyhole to the
door latch. If it is NOT unlocking by pressing the “unlock” button on your
key fob then you need to check to make sure your key fob is working
properly.Do other buttons on the key fob work? May need a new remote

Kevin AutoTechU says:

Sorry for the late reply. I’m not sure about your question. The “unlock”
and “lock” buttons on your driver’s door should unlock and lock ALL the
doors to the car. If it doesn’t, check to see if the power door lock switch
on the passenger door works properly.

Kevin AutoTechU says:

I have seen the power lock control unit problem as well. It’s hard to say
because I think they are essentially the same problem just at different
locations. Personally I would check the easiest thing first. If the power
lock control unit is easier to check I would start there. Fixing broken
wires in door harnesses is easy work if you have patience, it’s a tight
spot and can be frustrating.

Ps1locyb1n says:

Thank you! Had same problem. I’ll give this a go…

Ferhan Mohiuddin says:

Hello. My Honda civic (2003 lx) driver side door will lock from the inside
but not from the outside. Could my actuator be the issue or do I have to
get a new lock? Thanks in advance for the input.

Kevin AutoTechU says:

First I would confirm that the door lock actuator works. No sense in diving
into a complex wiring problem if it’s just a failed component. If you have
some time you should be able to swap the actuator with the driver’s side
for testing purposes. If the actuator works then I would check the wiring
at the driver’s door. You might have to check both doors, but the driver’s
side door is used the most so the broken wire is probably there.

nataliebowman79 says:

I have 03′ Civic LX. First the driver side look broke, then the passenger
side lock broke. I usually don’t lock my doors, but I forgot and now I am
locked out of my car!

dj58555 says:

hi- i wonder what you think of this- when i hit driver side door lock
switch, i hear the actuators on passenger side work- nothing on driver
side- doesn’t sound like a wire like in this video does it? is there more
than one ground? thinking it might be power lock control unit- see a video
about broken solder- thinking of trying that. already replaced driver door
actuator- any help??
