Very useful video used to help me replace the starter on my 2000 Accord 4cyl. Although not the same engine, it was difficult getting the second bold out.

JayNav09 says:

Thanks for this video.

bill ruckerford says:

Thank you very much. You saved my car.

Bushougoma says:

The reason for the extra step was to give better access to that lower bolt. But thanks for the tip!

Bushougoma says:

Are you sure its brand new? Most starters are remanufactured and while most of them are pretty good you can get a dud every now and then.

Check the teeth on the flexplate too (you will need a mirror for this) if they look good and aren’t unevenly worn exchange the starter.

jonscurve says:

i bolted it in firmly and all the way down…both bolts….this was a brand new starter from advance…i just dont see any other reason to make that noise other than brand new bad starter… which has to be a small chance. Do you know of a reason this may happen?

jonscurve says:

great video. i just replaced my starter in a 96 honda accord…after i was done i cranked the car…now it cranked but right when it did crank… for maybe a half a second or a whole second it sounded really bad…kinda the same sound a car would make when some tries to hit the starter switch while the car was running… i have had this car for 4 years…im not holding the key too long… i turned it off and tried again and the second time it didnt make that sound… the next time it did though

Elmano Locko says:

Hey Bushou,
l went to honda society. com how much do you think it would cost to souped up a 95 Accord?

Elmano Locko says:

May God bless you and protect you in everything you do Bushou. You are an inspiration to all of us poor broke Joe Schmo mechanic wannabes. Them car shops out there are nothing but thieves and they’re going to hate you for posting videos on auto repairs by saying that you’re taking their job away from them and guess what? That starter job was at least $550+ and you’re putting it right in our pocket, l LOVE IT!!

Ryan Pethel says:

17:24 – “Yep! I caught the threads…we’re goin’ in!” Haha! This is a great video. Thanks, bro.

Bushougoma says:

Been getting a lot of requests for that one. I have a huge backlog of videos I’m trying to edit now so I haven’t had much free time to shoot new material.

I’ll definitely look into shooting that one that video will be a long one since Honda made the simple process of changing rotors a pain on these cars.

Elmano Locko says:

Hey Bushou,
Do you’ve any new videos on how to replace Captive Brake Rotors?

Errol Dillon says:

Great video, thanks!!!

Bushougoma says:

They’re Microflex Midnights. I get them at my local parts supplier they are nitrile.

I’ve also used Microflex Safegrip with the extended cuffs (latex) in other videos but they’re really thick almost like dish gloves. But if you’re in a predicament where the thinner gloves keep tearing they’re a good choice.

I find the these gloves are right in the middle not too thick and not too thin.

archer says:

thank you for the video. appreciate it greatly.

question. where did you get your black gloves? those look heavy duty compared to the nitrile blue ones.

thanks
aj

Mike Fifer says:

I forgot to add, my solenoid was hung up and starter ran all the time , even with key off.
Thanks , Mike

Mike Fifer says:

Thank You so much for taking the time to post this. I would have never gotten mine replaced in my 96 Isuzu Oasis without your help.
On the Oasis the starter has to come out forward and you need to loosen or bend the throttle cable guide to the right about 6″ to get it out.
Thanks so much , Mike

Zac Thayer says:

We replaced my starter with this today! thanks so much!

Bushougoma says:

Yeah but be careful if the J bolts securing the battery are rusty. They are a very small diameter on these vehicles and it’s easy to twist them off.

If they’re rusted hit them with some penetrating oil and let it soak in before trying to remove the nuts and hope for the best.

If they end up shearing off anyways you can get replacements from the auto parts store.

iceoneohone says:

i agree with removing battery…..so much easier. video was very helpful.

vtecaccord96 says:
