Mike Mccool says:

Fix the problem then change the oil… Then drive like normal. It’ll clean itself out:)

James Hoffman says:

My engine is full of oil/coolant mixture. What would you recommend I use or do to get it all out..including the heater core.

jowshine123probanger says:

hey mike would it be possible for u to make a vid on replacing oil pump for a d16y8 it would help me out alot thanks for all the help u can help me with..

Mike Mccool says:

A 95 lx is very similar to this engine so you shouldn’t have a problem! Have fun…

Jonathan Ramos says:

hey mike I think your the best person that can help me.. Can you show to me how to change my head gasket in my Honda Civic 1995 LX 4dr.. Thanks Mike

islamic center of stockton says:

thanks for the video
i like the song in background what does it call

Mike Mccool says:

Paint supply or auto parts stores should have it … If you can’t find it gasoline will work!

Kevin McCutcheon says:

I used Bars Leak permanent head gasket repair, now I wanna actually replace the head gasket ( used the repair over a year ago) did i mess the engine up?

Guerby Destina says:

hey where can i find enamel reducer cant seem to find iit anywhere please help

Mike Mccool says:

Hey Rando, I get that question quite a bit… and the answer is enamel reducer. I actually put it in the vid right at the beginning but I think most miss it..Ya the Y7 is pretty much the exact same steps for the replacement. Good Luck

Rando Black says:

Hi Mike. Thanks for the vid on head remove and replace. What liquid did you use to clean the piston tops? My daughter’s engine is as Y7 but this vid is perfect. Thanks again.

Mike Mccool says:

Maybe some are…but I haven’t came across any. If they are rolled then you’ll have a lot of resistance and material being removed when trying to clean the threads.

Carlos Yanez says:

Arent head bolts rolled threads instead of straight cut u need a certain tap and die correct??

djjustice1 says:

Thanks for the videos! I am getting ready to Turbo my y8 and I’m gonna go ahead and replace the head gasket and install arp headstuds before I install the Turbo. Your videos have given me the confidence to do this.

zahid khan says:

I love the music. Can you give me exact name of the song in your video?
thanks.

Jake Lopez says:

Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!

jk

MrSlowestD16 says:

I hear ya. Much appreciated. I don’t precautionary do it unless I know the motor will be under a HEAVY amount of stress (constantly). Though I feel most people if you asked them wouldn’t even know what the hell a straight edge is, none-the-less anything about checking the flatness. Hell, I’ve had 2 different people who didn’t know each other say that they believe warped heads are a myth!

Mike Mccool says:

All these steps are pretty generic for changing any head gasket. but the model specific stuff like torque pattern and specifications or whether or not you’ll have to remove the cam on a K20 I’m not to sure of. You’ll want to have a repair manual with you as your doing this job anyway. As far as doing it yourself…..that is up to you! You might have problems but since you did it yourself, you can just redo it for little cost:) good luck

videogameland says:

Is this similar to replacing a head gasket on a k20 civic si? thanks.. or should i take it to the dealer..? I never done this before.

oldgreen100 says:

Thank you!!! Im doing head gaskets on a Ford V8 and i was really confused with cleaning the mating surfaces!!!

nickbeam02 says:

not really sure what happened in this video, I was so intrigued by the music I forgot what I was doing….great video

ChronoFreezer says:

good video, next time done use white font against a white background at the beginning 🙂

yeev92 says:

I mean not explain and tell me what tools I need

yeev92 says:

Hey I got a Honda civic94 and it needs a new head gasket and I got no tools and dont know anything about fixing a car can u explain what ur doing so I can have an idea

SuperCookieman1 says:

when putting the arp head studs what torque do you use on the bolts???

Ricardo Figueroa says:

I have the same motor and im thinking about doing the head gasket would white foam in radiator be the cause of a blown head gasket i already flushed the coolant system ? and it also stays at a constant idle and the car jerks when in first gear.

Mike Mccool says:

Thanks man! Bout time for some new ones but need to get a new computer for rendering!

Kevin Guevara says:

LOVE your vids man, great work

Mike Mccool says:

I’ve been waiting for this question! The answer is you have to take the belt off completely and rotate the crank and then use the factory timing marks to reposition everything. It’s not hard, just not included in this vid! Thanks for commenting:)

senasis says:

This is an excellent demonstration. How would you go about cleaning the piston heads that are at the bottom of their rotation?

Mike Mccool says:

Burning oil is more likely to be worn rings, broken ring lands, or worn valve guides. Although if the gasket is bad between the oil feed port and cylinder then that can allow oil into the cylinder which would cause white smoke in the exhaust. White exhaust “oil” black exhaust “gas/rich”. If your more than half a quart low when you change your oil then you are probably burning oil excessively. Thanks

charles peneyra says:

whats the reason of changing the headgasket for? burns oil? i suspect my b16b burns oil, is it the gasket or how can i determine its really burning oil? thanks

777ARTic says:

Thank you as very informative even the slightly different motor. Going to do it tomorrow now and save over $1000.00 on doing it myself. I might swear at the manifold bollts/nuts thou 😉 Thank you

Van Rasem says:

0:17 do you have bent valves look at 2 and 3 looks like you have got 2 bent valves and my car got same problem is that normal ?

MeticulousMr says:

If only everyone put this much effort and attention to detail in their trade…Nice job.

Grumpy Bob says:

Hey man, nice vids. I have an 03 Civic EX that doesn’t look too different from your car… Are there any major differences that I may encounter? Also how long did this take you? And besides the oil, the replacement gasket, and the sockets, what utensils/fluids are needed for this job?

Thanks again for the vid, could potentially save me hundreds…

Brandon Beers says:

i think your head has a bad valve..right at the begining i can see a valve thats looks to be raised up higher then the rest

i could be wrong but just something to look for

Laid2RestCA says:

oh ok thanks for the reply! wish me luck lol

Laid2RestCA says:

Hi great video!!! Just a quick question, rite now i have a 92 integra with just a ls b18a1, preparing for a headgasket job, ive found instructions and tips everywhere and been noticing u need to take rocker arms apart and adjust valves, from wat i seen in ur vid u didnt took urs apart, is it necessary to do that or can i just take the head off with everything still on it?

Alan McRae says:

Thanks for the great video. Where did you order the studs from?

Ryan Yates says:

How long with every thing would this all take?

playstation2bigs says:

is it okay to use a liquid sealant to the head gasket ???

initiald22 says:
