OusaKhun says:

It didn’t and I almost went out and bought another one but tried it again
and it worked. However my issue was I didn’t put the ground screw back in.
Once I did that it started beeping.

Pamela Fuller says:

I just fixed my husbands 2003 Civic Hybrid!!! Thank you so much – sent you
some mailbox $…. I am empowered thanks to you!

Eric Adcock says:

Thanks for the video! I actually had more trouble fishing out the broken
switch. It helped me to access it from the interior of the car. To do that,
remove the plastic panel that houses the seat belt strap. (Just pull it up;
it’s pretty easy.) That will reveal a black stopper, which comes out and
lets you push the broken switch through the small metal hole rather than
trying to fish it out.

John VanZalen says:

Fixed!! I actually switched passenger and driver, because driver didnt
work….left lights on a few times and drained my battery….now chime
works!!!
THANKS FOR THE HELP!!

2005 Civic LX – the dome light was still coming on. But I thought I would
post to this video in case someone else had a similar issue as me.
Low and behold, it was fuse 2 (under the hood), which I believe is labeled
“Small Light”. It is a 15 amp fuse.
Now that I replaced the fuse after checking each and every single one, I’m
finding that my instrument panel has gone wonky. It lights up when the
headlights are off, but doesn’t light up when the headlights are on. Yes,
I even turned the knob on the instrument panel and adjusted the lighting
and still does not light up.

Julia Di Ruscio says:

After a year and a half of draining my car battery almost monthly because I
left the lights on, I finally decided to see what the problem was and I
fixed it in 10 minutes. It actually took me longer to get the screw off
than it did to fish out the switch and put it back in place. Thank you so
much for your help!

Winston Hope says:

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! We have been trying to figure out the solution to
this problem for a year!! FIXED- Thanks to you!

Thanks! Worked like a charm! Clearly these Honda buttons are problematic. A
tip is on its way..Thanks from South Africa.

Scott Nyack says:

Name of the part talked about here? Mine is broken in half. What is the
part name to order. Please and thank you.

mstreds says:

Gonna do this tomorrow. Thanks so much!!!

Tom Golden says:

Great vid! thanks so much. I went out and switched the passenger side
switch to the driver’s side and it works just fine. I put the “bad” switch
back in the passenger side and worked hard to get it to connect properly.
Had to bend the middle metal prong towards the inside in order to get it
to seat properly. This paid off. Now both sides work! Many thanks!

Alice Adams says:

Add our thanks to the others. When we found your video, we had already
determined that all the other door switches worked. So, we followed your
instructions, removed the switch, and, since it was still connected to
everything and didn’t seem loose, we decided it had to be bad and we would
order a new one. We reattached everything to wait until we could order,
and, we realized our overhead lights were on…turned on the headlights –
chime worked!; put key in ignition, chime worked! Saved us $$$$ – we like
that! Thanks again! It may falter later, but for now, we are happy:)

Arleen Read says:

Thank you so very much! I can’t believe it took me so long to look for the
solution to a problem that has been driving me crazy for a long time. In a
few minutes–voila! Problem solved. Sending you a $$ tip via PayPal as
above.

Kurtis Saiyo says:

+olivia dippon Why didn’t I attempt to investigate this? Oh, yeah… the
thing never worked for us, so we just assumed we never have one!
+teppichkopf You just solved all my problems. Thank you. When I saw what
you were doing, I laughed at myself.

Nathan Hjelm says:

Awesome! The sensor on my wife’s civic got bumped into the door when
someone hit her door. Thank you for posting this!

Martin Jenssen says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you …. Took me about 2 minutes to fix now …
Thank you :-)

Bill Voelker says:

Yup, it worked. Since I live at a place where parts are hard to come by, I
just unscrewed the good switch from the other side and replaced the bad
one. Thanks!

Ludwig Haber says:

At least a dozen times my battery ran down because I left my headlights on.
Spent quite a bit of time looking to install a buzzer circuit today. Then I
found this and I reattached my switch in about 1 – 2 minutes. Thanks a
bunch for posting this and saving at least one person from going insane.
2003 Civic Lx Headlight reminder is fixed.

D Smith says:

Thank you. I just took the piece of and put it back in and it worked. I
knew that the button was not stuck and my mechanic said it might be dirty.
He was right. Thanks A Bunch.

Shannon Langford says:

Thanks for the video! This is one of the reasons the internet is awesome.

Desiree Danel says:

Amazing! Thanks so much. Can’t believe something that’s cause me so much
headache was fixed in 5 min.

celticbanner18 says:

Wow! The Honda dealership said they were going to charge me $200 and I
would have to leave the car there for the day. With this video and an $8
part, I fixed my problem in less than 2 minutes- and I am not what anyone
would consider a handyman. I saved myself 192 dollars and a lot of
aggravation!

Phyllis Fleischman says:

Thanks so much for this video. I slammed my seat buckle in the door
yesterday and broke the switch. My colleague said, “Before you go to the
dealer, just check Youtube. I’ll bet someone has posted a video on that.”
Sure enough, you did! This was super easy. The hardest part was driving
to the dealer to pick up the part with the dome light on in the dark and
snow. I had it fixed in about 2 minutes. Thanks again!

vampiricmuse says:

Thank you for this! My car has been dying on me for months because I am an
idiot and forget about them.

Seriously glad this video exists.

Erik Lu says:

thanks for this!!

Sam M. says:

I have a 2002 civic lx. My car does not beep and my park lights don’t flash
when i hit the alarm button twice, yet the panic button works fine. Any
ideas?

Bill Voelker says:

I have the exact problem. I can’t wait ’till I investigate it. Thanks.

MrPigeon says:

Really appreciate this! We were baffled for several weeks and didn’t feel
comfortable ponying up a lot of cash to the dealer. Thank you!!

Ed Bierman says:

Thanks this allowed me to fix an annoying problem after about the 4th time
I left my lights on and drained my battery

William Burns says:

Had the same problem with my wife’s CRV. If I had known how easy it was to
fix, I would have saved myself at least two rescue calls to jump a dead
car! Thanks for posting the video!

SuperSharpBlue says:

This usually happens if the seatbelt gets caught in the door when it is
closed.
