For the first iacv, the plug you mentioned. Where is that located? My frien got a 99 hatch but his iacv is not plugged and we are trying to find out where the plug is. Thanks!!
it is the obd2. gray style comes in civics after 1996.
use carburettor cleaner.
I believe the gray is for automatic transmissions and back is for manual.
can i use water for cleaning iacv ?
FUEL VAPOR CHARCOAL CANISTER on civic 1995ex,can it cause idle problems?
you cant put a b16 head on a d15 block
i just bought a 95 civic, has low idel ~500rpm..and does high idle at ~2k, i’m getting ready to clean my IACV, throttle body, and map valve..any other ideas? i was told throttle sensor by the guy i bought it from. it’s a Frankenstein build too btw, B16 vtec heads on a stock D15 block.
Do you know the difference between and purpose between the IACV (idle air control valve) and FITV (fast idle thermo valve). I know the IACV adjusts the amount of air going into the intake manifold to tweak idle RPM speeds, but why can’t the IACV do the job of the FITV as well. Why 2 separate gadgets to do the same thing?
the gray IACV is the type that is on my engine. i have also heard of a FITV, does a 97 honda civic EX (with the gray type IACV) have a FITV? (fast idle thermo valve) im hoping replacing my IAC will fix my idle problem. but if i do have a FITV, im having trouble locating it, but i have heard it may have walked its way loose, and could also be a cause of the idle hunt.
Thanks
Not sure.
is the gray iacv a obd2 nd the first an obd1?
Great tutorial man. Going to try cleaning out the one on my 92 Accord. Again, Great tutorial!
No, not that I know of. Just remember when you leak coolant on the ground it’s a death trap for cats and dogs. Oh and make sure you top off your coolant reservoir to replace what you leak out.
when I take off the coolant hoses, and put them back on is there anything I need to be careful of, or know before I do this????
Yeah, it’s real easy to find. It’s the sensor plugged into your air intake hose.
found out it was a a bad “intake air temp sensor” but I don’t know how to replace it. don’t know what it looks like. Can you lend some help? P.S. gave the wrong year. its a 96.
If you have a bad IAC I don’t think adjustments will help; but you can try, and let me know if it works.
97 Honda Accord with the idle from hell symptoms, the surging problem. very annoying as I have a loud pipe muffler. I get all kinds of complaints in the morning when warming up in my apartments. Anyway from other vids I see that you can adjust the inside of the valve to make for a steady idle. Is this possible on the black style IAC shown first in your video. I’d prefer to not have to buy a new part. thanks
Oh, I bet it’s your compressor then. And your welcome. Keep me updated.
ah no it is pretty old and i am not sure about the oil, but ill check on those two things! thank you!!
I don’t think it would hurt nothing, but I’d hate to tell you that, and then it does hurt it. If it were mine I might try it, but I would leave the electrical housing out of the degreasing fluid.
No. Your idle has something to do with your A/C. Is your compressor clutch new? When they refilled your A/C system, did they put new oil in too?
damnit i have the grey one!
To clean the IACV can i just soak in any household degreasing solution??
my 1999 honda civic idles fine, but when i turn on my a/c it idles really hard. I just had my entire a/c system replaced due to my compressor going out. Do you think if i replace this on my car it will help it? :/
