Good overview. Just my two cents here – I think it all comes down to maintenance and driver behavior.
1. Making sure to change the engine oil before the recommended intervals (some might argue this is not necessary, but depends on driving patterns. Preventative is better than regretting after the engine develops issues)
2. Good fuel – In Aus/NZ we have 98 octane.
3. Don't do short start and stops frequently.
4. If buying a second hand or lease, making sure the car has a service history. Rule of thumb (not always), a clean interior that has been taken care of reflects on a clean exterior and engine history. A good owner will take care of their prize possession.
5. Don't thrash it as soon as you've started the car.
6. Check your dip stick and see if you have oil dilution. Like most or all direct injection engines, frequent short start and stops will be one of the causes for this. If it is the case, change the engine oil
7. Hondata or Ktuner? Hard to detect but a good owner won't thrash the life out of the car and run stupid tunes and high psi for their turbo. Again, a good owner will look after their car and not like a napkin.
2017 crab recently had fuel injectors an turbo replaced Since then it has issues accelerating an Picking up speed it recently just died out on me while driving down road an now has no power replaced battery an still nothing at all push start button just blinks white
Use top tier gas
2018 CRV EX owner with 109k miles. Instrument panel xmas blinking lights. Expensive job. Battery issues, brake sensor too sensitive i have to disable it allllll the time. Underpowered. Horrible handle. Body roll. Pros: spacious, comfortable
Did you say the back fire cause the head gasket to blow/
What gas do you suggest for a 2019 exl ive tried premium but i fekt like the car was a bit weird
I have the 2016 cr v 2.4 …it's a work horse….never problems ,change oils and go, go
Question covering the licence Plate WY,i did not get it,Unless the car is stolen what other ……………
My 2020 Hybrid CR-V just randomly stuttered and couldn't accelerate above 20-25 mph. Apparently a common issue. Making weird noises, check engine light on. Restarted it and it drives fine (as everyone else with the problem has reported also). Of course the dealer can't solve it because it's intermittent and there are no stored failure codes. The car is basically undriveable. If this happened going 60mph it would be a disaster.
what a junk engine, No honda for me ever again. Honda does not stand by their products. Head gaskets and Fuel injectors.
Had the head gasket, fuel injectors and AC compressor shaft seal fixed all within the last year on my cr-v 2019. Hoping no more issues for a long time, but I’m not super confident in Honda at the moment.
Engine looks like it was stored underwater in a swamp. Keep the vehicle clean, including the engine bay and you will have fewer problems!
201,000km on a 2018 1.5, #2 gas. No issues (touch wood)
I've had none of these issues with my 2022 CR-V Hybrid EX-L. I've got 58,000 miles on it right now. It runs great.
the Base LX model from 2017-2019 have the 2.4 as all gas CR-V models from 2020-present have the L15BE 1.5l turbo engine some people use the head gasket repair bottles on them and saved themselves money on a head gasket replacement. as it can happen on a warm start it misfiring even when the vehicle sets for a few minutes which will indicate a head gasket issue.
2019, engine replacent needed after 115k due to slug oil
