2005 Honda Pilot Back Up Camera Install – Peak PKC0RG – Or for any wireless back up camera system

In this video, I install a wireless back up camera on a 2005 Honda Pilot. I learned through trial and error how to install this. In the end, it only had take…

Great informative video. Thank you for sharing. I bought the same camera
and you saved me a few hours trying to figure it out on my own.

Henry Lam says:

how was the video quality tho? Can you see anything during night time and
rain time as well?

terry jones says:

I’d agree that doing it in daytime would have been better, as well with
someone else filming. That said great job. I would have liked to seen the
parts laid out. Is the mirror an overlay? Now that you’ve had it for a
while, how do you like it? Thanks!!

No problem. I’d like to think that the wires would be the same. Have a
buddy help and use a wire test light with a needle tip to poke through the
wires while cycling through park and reverse. Put the needle in the wire
with the car in park and then shift it to reverse and the light should turn
red and then off or blue when put back in park.

vehicle up in tight places and clearing the rear of the vehicle before
backing. I would recommend getting an in-dash head unit with back up camera
capabilities and doing it that way unless you are just looking for a cheap
way to do it.

Here is an idea…. at least I did one. If you don’t like it then don’t
watch the video. There is no other like it, it was the only time I had to
do it, and wanted to be helpful to other. Can’t make everyone happy bro.

mp3803 says:

Wiring the tail gate- On the back hatch, take off the passenger side
reverse light plastic cover from the inside of the vehicle. That will
expose the reverse light and the wires to it. Close the hatch and drill a
hole big enough to fit the plastic circular wire protector inside (place
some RVT on the outside of the plastic piece to ensure a seal before
placing it in). Then, run the wires from the camera (from the outside of
the tail gate) to the passenger side of the Pilot (right).

mp3803 says:

Now with the tail gate open, search with your eyes and fingers inside the
reverse light area for the wires. After running them through connect the
wires and check functionallity before complete mounting as shown in the
video with either magnetic tape or sticky tape. Place more RVT inside the
hole to seal from moisture.

Thank you for the hard work! You definitely will be helping others shorten
install times with this info! Wiring is a pain in the ass and this will
help people without a doubt! I plan doing this on my 08 pilot. Hopefully
all the wires are the same…. lol Thanks again!

David Vedder says:

How did you run the wires down the trunk hatch?

David Vedder says:

Best video I found so far. I’m thinking of doing this with my 2011 pilot

Brian G says:

Thanks for posting this awesome video. I wasn’t as brave as you and had
mine installed at Best Buy today. The weird thing was that it only came
with the lighter adapter power cord and not the one to hard wire. At first
i thought they left it out of the package but when I looked at the manual
where they showed whats included they only showed the lighter adapter. They
hard wired that in anyway using an adapter. I wonder if there’s a slightly
different version out there now.

you should try making the tutorial when the suns out next time…

mp3803 says:

I would have loved to do it in the light but my work schedule was not
allowing that at the time. The mirror is a clip on to the origional mirror
of your vehicle. The mirror is darker than your OEM mirror. I do like it
overall but it is a little harder to see through the mirror at night due to
the tint of it. The screen is viewable in bright sun. The quality of the
camera is good, but dont bother using the onscreen distance markers, they
are horribly off. It does help with backing the….
