Suggestions for installation of new belt:
1. 1st route the new belt around the crankshaft (which can’t be reached by
hand).
Use a metal pole (we used a lamp post tube) to guide the belt around the
crankshaft.
2. after getting the belt around the crankshaft, use your hand to route the
belt around the other pulleys including the tensioner but NOT the power
steering pulley.
3. now rotate the tensioner clockwise and slip the belt over the power
steering pulley using a wide blade screwdriver.
4. In step 3, AVOID putting your fingers between any pulley and the belt in
case the wrench slips off the tensioner.

What is the name of the song in the background?

Eric Metz says:

You only need to use a wrench or socket on the tensioner pulley and pull
toward the front of the car to loosen the belt. You do NOT loosen the bolt
in the center as that is one of 3 mounting bolts for the entire tensioner!
The tensioner itself isn’t “locked” in position, it is spring loaded at all
times, allowing constant tension as the belt wears and stretches.

I just did mine at 82k. Not that many miles but was at least 7 years old
and I got the belt for $18 and took 5 mins!

james lifemadeeasy says:

My car was just over 105k when I replaced. Honda recommends every 60 k, but
as you can see my belt was still in good condition at 105k under normal
driving. Check your belt. if it has small or large cracks, replace it!

TIKIMAN198 says:

Isn’t the tension bolt 14 MM?

james lifemadeeasy says:

Weston, try using a breaker bar/ something with a longer handle for more
leverage.

Hello there, glad you liked the video. Sure I will post when I have a
chance.

Baby Spicer says:

Very nice….

james lifemadeeasy says:

thats odd, how did you get enough slack to take the belt off then?

TIKIMAN198 says:

How many miles were on your car when you did this?

Tyson Andy says:

Can a alternator sound like it has something loose inside of it? Mines
sounds like it does.

james lifemadeeasy says:

lol, as long as it worked! 🙂

lNatallia says:

Can you please make a video on how to jump start a car and change a flat
tire? I haven’t ever had to do this before but I would really like to make
sure I do it right if I am under that unfortunate circumstance where I do.

David Sweet says:

Release the tension from the pulley. I never loosened that bolt when I
changed my belt.

james lifemadeeasy says:

sorry, I can get rid of the music if you still need the video!

David Sweet says:

I released the tension on the pulley not the bolt on the tensioner lol

Sergio Medina says:

Nice work! Thanks

Todd Eckstein says:

how would you get the old belt off and new belt on if you did not loosen
the tensioner bolt?

weston nowling says:

change my belt!?

james lifemadeeasy says:
