Arman Kooner says:

Is that an aftermarket grill ?

Jeremy Pilot says:

i get a little rattle noise when my Civic is in neutral and my foot is off the clutch. The car doesn't get driven much and the brakes were a bit rusty. Do you think the bearing is shot or just rust build up that will spin off?

Frank Griner says:

Best video out for R&R manual on an 01-05. I replaced the engine in mine a year ago, pulled both together from the top. When I put it together I made a fatal error, as mentioned in your video, I did not seat the CV Axle on the driver's side all the way (I thought I did). After a week or so it sheared the last 1/8" (behind the retaining groove) and that was all she wrote. Put in new CV's, but now the manual trans leaks fluid, I'm investigating from where. Not a ton, but if I let it go too long without filling it will start popping out of gear in 5th under load. Do you think I messed up one of the seals on the differential?

imdawolfman says:

52:05 I like that smile… 'I don't know…', he says.
He knows.

In theory, each car that comes off the assembly line should be exactly like the one before and the one after, even with robots doing most of the assembly.
Any parent can tell you that a baby comes into this world with a preinstalled personality that, baring electroshock therapy (etc.), they will developed and carry the rest of their lives.
So do cars.

Before you go, 'Oh, a 'WOO-WOO' guy', check it out: On some level no two bolts (properly called 'cap screws') coming out of a factory can possibly be EXACTLY the same, they MUST have varying numbers of carbon atoms, for example. In the complex assembly of a car these tiny variances of tens of thousands of parts can add up to wide variance in the final product.
And you know, just like humans, some cars are just born 'lemons'!

Then you have such a wide spectrum of owners (often several) each treating the car differently: hotrodding it, babying it, (GASP) even neglecting maintenance! Plus you add in the mechanics who have worked on it, meticulous, sloppy, etc. So, each individual car develops its own unique 'personality' over the years, even if they rolled out of the factory on the same day.

Now it gets 'WOO WOO' 🙂 Why can't a sensitive mechanic, like Eric, just 'feel' that a car has more 'pep' after its had such a caring NON-PEP related procedure?
To a car's personality it probably felt like a day at the spa, a facial AND buying a new EXEDY hat!

So Eric, YOU KNOW. You're a car whisperer and heard it say 'Thanks'.
(or maybe it's just the lubricant…)

Mike Blake says:

Hey Eric been watching your videos for a long time you make auto repair fun.

Sohn Nani says:

U make it look so easy. Been watchin you for years! Great work.

Federico Mondragon says:

Nice..eric thank you for showing how to remove and installed the transmission..thumbs up..

Cameron Audet says:

It's been a while since I have seen your channel Eric, I got busy with work. It's funny just as the camera cut to you working on the lift I was like, OMG he has a lift now I'm so jealous!, queue you saying Yeah I have a lift, lift envy lol.
Great timing.

xonslaughtlioness says:

Does this cause the steering wheel having to turn and turn? Also an awful backing up whining noise?

Bob Morton says:

Went to have a look at one of these last summer as a cheap reliable runabout. Bloke said the throwout bearing was making a bit of noise. Was making more than a bit of noise, a right racket. I did wonder at the time if it was the input shaft bearing so gave it a miss. Later found out that input shaft bearing failure are common on these, so i dodged a bullet there. Ended up picking up another one and its been fine ever since, (touch wood) all ive done to it is front brakes and a rear wheel bearing. Gave it a service and changed timing belt/water pump as peace of mind as no idea when it had been changed.

Aaron Reynolds says:

Thank you for putting this together. Your walk through was spot on and got me through a clutch replacement.
