Nothing about my tail lights look like this on my yukon

This the simplest, least invasive, and likely most robust solution to this problem I have seen presented. GM's design of this led circuit is lacking. There should obviously be more material in jumpers between segments.

This worked perfectly for me today; as it should if executed correctly. Good looking out, thank you.

The only thing I would do different would be to coat the rivets with some silicone to keep them from corroding
