I used air duster on the LED after removing the panel on my 01 chevy. Also
on your blower motor check your clip between the truck and the blower
motor. Mine had melted so I had to occasionally tap or kick the motor to
make it go. Ultimately replaced it and hard wired the blower motor. But
hell yeah on the advice for the cluster! Works like a charm now!
whatever fuse the radio runs off was my cluster too on a 99 blazer
what kind of grease did you use? lol my gear shifter went out recently on
my silverado
not being mechanically inclined, how difficult will this be (especially
making sure everything goes back right)
Must have been made in the same instrument factory as the commodores in aus
THANK YOU ERIC…!!! Mine been out since end of last year. You just helped
save a 3 time war veteran a couple of benjamins cause I was about to spend
200 bucks for some company online that fixes the cluster. I followed every
step of your video after work today and its working like a charm again. Now
i have the money I need to get my SUV windows tinted. All smiles!
Thanks.. Just exactly what I have. (Also fuel Guage does not work).. Hope I
have the same success. Wish I had seen where you put the lithium grease.
You said you’re engine is flooded. It’s most likely your fuel pressure
regulator. Common problems on gm
Thanks man, this saved me a lot of money and a lot of worries.
Got a question cause I have the same problem. How hard can you pull on that
to view the solder joints underneath the odometer? I took the pins out and
didn’t want to pull on it too hard in case I might break something. I
pressed a little on those pins you showed and I think it was that first one
you said that was the main culprit for being not soldered correctly. It had
more play in it than the others when I pressed on it. Thanks for the
response.
what was it with yours? was it that first pin? what do you do to fix it? Or
did you also just clean the blue plug? I resoldered mine and it is still
doing the same thing.
Thanks Eric. You saved me a bunch of money and two trips to the dealer.
Took about 20 minutes to fix. Used a spray can of electronics air to clean
everything out and it all works like a charm.
hello, do you know how to repair just the message center?or give me any
ideas of what the problem could be? thanks a lot have a nice day.
Thanks the video helped out alot. I didnt notice that you could lift up the
screen to check the soldering. I just took it apart and cleaned it. It is
still going on and off randomly. Is it normal for the screen to be loose on
the right side? I could move it up and down a little. also what kind of
spray did you use to clean it? I just used Q tips and rubbing alcohol.
thanks for the video and please respond 😀
Love the blue display, i think they are often a really bright green with a
thick blue plastic filter in front. Looks much like the types used on vcr’s
and some dvd players, there are filiments that must have power applied, in
the dark you can see a faint red glow on the horizontal wires, with no
filter. Looks like you sorted it without selling a kidney for parts money
🙂
Shouldve seen the display in my dad’s 03 duramax gmc. Started out just
flashing at startup, then it would quit working till it warmed up, then it
started doin all sorts of weird shit. It would go haywire, sometimes the
odometer would work sometimes not, you would have to bang on it to get it
working sometimes. Finally went out today, he had to order a new one.
did u have to reprogram your mileage, im worried about losing mine if i
remove the cluster?
I have a 2003 GMC Envoy and my display is intermittent. Do I have the same
problem or do I need to send it to a repair guy? You make it look easy. I
hope the Envoy is easy?
hey i have a 2004 Chevy Suburban and my cluster shows everything but the
Mileage i tried what you did and it is still not showing any other
suggestions?
Happening in my 2004 Chevy Tahoe, very common problem but with the help of
YouTube and the Chevy forum, I can do it myself! YipeKaiyeah!
I have an 03 with the same issues. It was flickering for a while and now
just nothing. I suppose I will try cleaning it and hope I have the same
luck. Just noting that it appears the issue is still there in later models
as well.
You mentioned about maybe a bearing or something for your fan speed and my
fathers dodge dakota would only run on high speed and we replaced a motor
resistor or something for 20 bucks and it fixed it. I don’t know if that
has anything to do with your problem but though id throw it out there
You shouldn’t lose your mileage unless you put another cluster in
Great video! Just repaired my 2001 Suburban 1500 gear shift indicator
display. I had the same issue. The display would work on and off randomly.
Then eventually stopped working all together. Also appreciate the 7mm
socket size reference and pointing out the suspected soldier joint that
typically has issue. I had to look really hard at the soldier joints to
finally see the lack of soldier on the top pin. The vehicle mileage was
never effected during my repair.
TTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKK
YYYYYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUU SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOO
MMMMMUUUUCCCCHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! I FINALLY GOT IT WORKING. U JUST SAVED ME
MONEY!!!!!! LOL TAKE CARE BRO!!!!!
Very helpful video, thanks dude!
Hey Bro Do You Think You Can Show Me How To Install A Stereo On It?
Hey Eric I got the same problem just reversed. my odometer is lit up but my
back lights wont come on. I changed the fuses and still no luck. I have a
video on my channel of the problem. Now I seen your video i might go ahead
and change the switch panel.
I have a 99 Sierra with the same problem. Pulled the cluster, took a look,
and sprayed the plug with WD40 and blew it out. Plugged it all back
together and it works just like new. Thanks for the Help!
Okay i figured out how to lift the screen up. My top two pins are broke
free from the solder. I am going to try and re solder it myself. Wish me
luck.
hey iv got a truck just like this, same motor and short cab step side, just
in like silver, i was wondering how many miles yours has on it and if you
have had any transmission problems yet? cause my transmission isnt doing so
good and its only got 114500 or so miles on my truck
Thanks a Million! The exact pin you pointed to had a fractured solder
joint.
