Installing CD Deck Into 1995+ GMC/Chevrolet trucks

I am very bored up in the city so I made a video of taking apart the dash plate to install an aftermarket stereo into a 95+ newer GMC or Chevy trucks/ suburb…

market

milldabeast519 says:

i was just gona say this isnt how you do a 2001 gmc.. i was fighting with
that shit after watching this video… then i noticed theres screws
everywhere holding the dash together… once i got that shit off and
figured out, i wired the stereo in and it works fine but im having trouble
securing the back end of the deck up. the fuckn face kits are garbage. i
got a giant bag with 40 pieces in it and none of them fit that fuckn good
let alone keep it secured…. the factory deck has a fuckn post u jam into
a bracket in the dash to keep the ass end up. how the fuck do i secure the
aftermarket deck since none of the fuckn brackets do anything really

Jose Gomez says:

What brand of dash installation kit are you using? && is there double
sectioned ones?

b18cr2000si says:

Hey my stock CD player is not taking CD I got a new one stock and does the
same thing any Ideas

youdragon says:

@Thefarmshow so its more about the room then the adaptor end it self then

GodofThunder66 says:

does it disable the factory cd player ..

Jeffrey Wilkinson says:

the stock cd player comes out the same way the head unit comes out gm makes
a pocket that takes its place so you put misc stuff in its lined with like
felt material tahts what comes in the truck when no stock cd players in the
dash!

The Farm Show says:

@axecrafter I guess one thing I should of said in the video was this is for
95-99 GMC vehicles, is yours newer then this?

nycitystreets says:

Thanks for the video helps

A REDTAIL says:

@Thefarmshow How about getting a new one from a junk yard wreck, In which
the CD radio units should be like new .?

Adolf Hitler says:

it is possible with a non-tilt-able steering wheel right

youdragon says:

you need to buy a new attena adaptor? i thought the stock one would fit
with most stereos?

jackhillbilly says:

are all aftermaket stereos universal

Paul says:

What about the stock CD player?

MrMrmotocross says:

And we’re did u get your mount for your deck

GenesisGems says:

thx dude! this helped me and my dad out…seems we need a new harness. 🙁

The Farm Show says:

You will need the harness, unless you want to chop the vehicle one up
inside the dash ( not very easy nor fun to do ) so i recommended just
buying the harness and connecting them together outside the vehicle.

MrMrmotocross says:

I have a 97 Chevy 1500 single cab and it looks like the light thing on the
lower left hand corner doesnt detach is it made too

The Farm Show says:

wasn’t 99 the year they switched over? There are a few 99 chevy trucks this
style isn’t there? Im not entirely sure, newest chevy I own is a 98 haha

The Farm Show says:

This replaces the factory cd player entirely, with that being said, if you
use the harness, you can put the factory radio back in at anytime by simply
plugging the connectors back in.

chesp14 says:

Actually sir that 95-98… 99-00, youre talking about the silverado classic

Tyler Scott says:

@Thefarmshow 1996 Chevy Suburban

CG199213 says:

you could have just bought a small l shaped antenna adapter thats what i
did in my 95 but it may vary depending on your radio

The Farm Show says:

From three way sales and service in Kindersley, haha its a local store, so
you can probably order it through wal-mart of any store like that, or on
ebay would be a great cheap place too if you have time, thanks for
watching!!

MrMrmotocross says:

Look like that

The Farm Show says:

its not necessary, if you aren’t using the radio, I have yet to use it
since i got usb capabilities

jason kulesza says:

someone put a dash kit in my 1995 gmc with usb. I tried to plug my usb port
from my phone and play something from rhapsody but it didn’t work I think
it said error, anyways its an old truck with alot to fix, I didn’t even
have a radio antenna, so for go skate day I picked up some homies and got
one, well it barely worked, and is always staticy, waste of 10 bucks in my
opinion, anyone know how to make it clearer? I want to put some legit sound
in this peice oneday cuz I’m fixing it up.

joco45 says:

Hello There,Thanks for taking the time to post this video. Had the old one
out and the new one in—- in no time.97 GMC pickup

The6gun says:

where do you get the trim panel

hondaryder707 says:

Is there a kit where I can remove the cd player on the bottom of the air
controls entirely. It will be an eye sore if I have a nice deck that I
install and I still have the old cd player on bottom. Thanks

jackhillbilly says:

@Thefarmshow like when you go to walmart or a store and get a aftermarket
stereo would the all fit your truck or do you have to like measure them and
make sure they would fit

TheGtabuzz02 says:

hey where do you get the wiring diagram like green to green and such?

logan eastwood says:

how did you get the small radio to fit in the huge hole and make it blend
in?!!!!

The Farm Show says:

@youdragon See i think it would work, but the antenna adapter has a male L
on the one end, because when you push the deck back in, the stock one
wouldnt have enough of a curve on it.

TheAlexnihles says:

he likes saying parts alot pull that part out haha

Tyler Scott says:

Does the stock anti theft matter on a new cd palyer? mine is not hooked up,
& i am having issues with it. Just wondering if that is something you have
encountered.

luke nahdee says:

thanks man, hard to find pre 2000 silverado/sierra work..thanks again

lumberjak2 says:

I have the dash kit, wiring harness, and crimping tools on the way for
installing my new receiver (which happens to be the same receiver you’re
using in your video). Thanks for showing me how to take the dash assembly
off. My question is whether it is absolutely necessary to use the antenna
cable, because I don’t have one for an aftermarket receiver and you
mentioned in your video that I would need to buy one. I can do that if it’s
unavoidable, but I won’t use the radio antenna anyway.

The Farm Show says:

@jackhillbilly Well usually they are all a standard size, or I never really
though about them not fitting right, the only ones you have to worry about
not fitting with a standard deck plate, are the touch screen ones, or dvd
player ones. The dvd player ones where the screen pops out and folds up or
down you have to watch too. The part that i took out in this video, is the
deck plate, I installed my stereo into that plastic plate so it took up all
the space that the stock one did before.

MyTman69 says:

so i need the aftermarket wireing? stock wont work?
