There are normally rubber bushings on the front of the vehicle that you can adjust to make the hood sit flush with the header panel and headlights.

i have a question my hood latches but it seems like it doesnt close all the way as it should, u could see a gap between the hood and upper grill, what do u think it could be?

1aauto says:

If there’s power to the actuator that pops the glass open, but it does not open then the actuator may be bad. If you take the door panel off and replace it, it may open for you. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com

i have a 1997 s 10 blazer 4 wd, how can i get the back glass to pop open, i here it click, but will not pop open? i went to the book and saw were to go to do it manually and i did that and it still clicks but will not pop open, i am ready to brake it out and start from there!

1aauto says:

There should be a couple of bolts that hold the latch in place. If you loosen the bolts and tap the latch down a tiny bit, it should hold the hood more snug and will keep enough tension on it so that it won’t keep popping open on you. You have to be careful when you do this, because if you adjust it to much then the hood will get stuck and not open at all. Any auto body shop should be able to fix this for you fairly easily too. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I have a question. I have an 86 Volvo 240 and having a problem with the hood latch. When I’m driving on the highway it lifts up to where the hook catches and the cable is pushed in. what could be the problem and would it be an easy fix? Thanks

1aauto says:

We carry a brand new hood release cable for that truck on our website with free shipping. They aren’t to hard to replace. Part Number: 1AHRC00002 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

@1aauto do you know much about the 2000>Chevy S-10?? My issue is the latch on the inside that you pull the causes the hood to pop up. Is there any way to fix it or to get it replaced so it does work? My latch has become completely separated from the wires.

1aauto says:

You may need to take the grill out (if you can) to pop the hood open, or you may need to see if there’s a way to reach the latch mechanism from under the front bumper, sometimes you can grab the cable with a set of pliers and pop it open. If that doesn’t work you may need to sneak a socket or a wrench in there and remove the latch so you can lift the hood. On the rear lift-gate cable you would need to remove the door panel on it from inside the truck so that you can reach the cable inside.

Diana Herrick says:

thank you for the very informative video’s. I have a question about the hood latch. My hood is stuck and won’t open and the hood latch release is broken. What should we do?

Another question that i have is on the back gate. The actuator isn’t broken but the cable is disconnected, what can we do to fix and open the back gate?

1aauto says:

You could try to have someone pull the handle while you tap on the edge of the hood with your hand. Sometimes this works.

1997 Chevy Tahoe latch. cant open hood

1aauto says:

We’ll keep this in mind if we end up making this repair in the future.

Ian D says:

Can you make a video on how to fix the hood release cable?

1aauto says:

The hood wasn’t stuck in the closed position on this vehicle. If your latch has broken and the hood is stuck, you may have to try to open the hood from under the truck.

walrus522 says:

How do you get the hood open in the first place??

adam dorton says:

for got to put i have a 96 chevy s10 ex 4.3l lol

anderberger says:

will do thanks

1aauto says:

First try spraying some penetrating oil like PB Blaster or WD-40 on the latch. See if that gets it to work better. Move the working parts with your fingers and see if they begin to move easier. If it does finish it off by spraying some white grease on it.

anderberger says:

on mine you pull the release lever and it does not pop and i will have to drive over a curb or something bumpy and then it will undo and then when i put the hood down it sometimes does not catch so do i need a new one of these ? i understand this is kinda a dumb question but i just wanna be sure if im gonna spend money for a new part

Rev. Alandres Thompson Jr says:
