So is the “encoder motor” and transfer case shift motor the same thing?? My
2006 GMC Envoy needs a new endcoder motor according to the dealer as my 4WD
no longer will engage. Can the encoder motor be installed just as easily as
the 4WD Transfer Case shift motor? Thanks.

transfer case control module , do you have any vids on that procedure ? i
know it is under the steering wheel but where? thanks so much

I have a 2006 Envoy and I need to replace this shift motor and the
dealership said I will have to have it programed…is that true or are they
just trying to get $590 out of me?

1A Auto Parts says:

It’s hard to say without being able to look at the vehicle. It could be a
bad sensor, such as the EGR valve or IAC, or maybe something as simple as a
tune-up if it’s been some time since the vehicle has had one. Hope this
helps you out.

1A Auto Parts says:

Unfortunately there are a few different things that it could be. The best
bet would be to bring the vehicle into the mechanic and they should be able
to determine it. It could range from the shift motor to the transfer case
shift fork to the entire transfer case not working correctly.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to look for a good local shop to do the repairs for you. You
shouldn’t dirve it until it’s repaired.

1A Auto Parts says:

It could be an issue with the actuator. Also check the vacuum lines under
the hood in the engine compartment to see if there might be a disconnected
of broken vacuum line whic could be causing this issue. Hope this helps you
out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

JayzBeerz says:

Can you do a video changing the transfer case fluid? Thanks.

1A Auto Parts says:

The part number for the shift actuator on your 2008 Chevy Tahoe is Part
Number: 1AFWA00004 on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

midesio says:

Thanks for this great instructional video! It is my understanding the
transfer case must be in 2HI before installing the new motor.

Redlinesixtynine says:

How will we know if this case shift motor has failed? You have some great
videos. Thanks.

Hi I have a question ,, what are the symptoms of a bad transfer case motor
on a 2002 chevy trailblazer LTZ 4×4?

We currently do not. We do carry a new shift motor on our website

wasup274 says:

thanks for all the tip.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to pull the code to see what it points to. That may tell you
what the issue is. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Charlie Atkins says:

Although on the Trailblazer/Envoy/Rainier the motor hardly never fails the
most common problem is the TCCM (transfer case control module)

1A Auto Parts says:

Sometimes they will make a not or might not engauge.

Lydelisse Gonzalez says:

I have a trail blazer 2002 and i want to know how much cost that thing lol
i don’t know english

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to have a transmission shop take a look at it for you.

1A Auto Parts says:

@bobbyv125 Currently we do not have a video on this repair. After doing
some research on this topic, the TCCM for an 02 Chevy Trailblazer, should
be located behind the dash, near the headlight switch. Hope this helps out.

1A Auto Parts says:

@TheChev98 We currently do not have an auto repair video on this particular
vehicle, but usually they are located on the back or the front of the
transfer case, on most vehicles.

how do u know your transfer case motor is not working?

1A Auto Parts says:

@matthew1986ful You may want to check your hubs, 4WD actuator and also the
vacuum lines under the hood to see if you’re loosing vacuum anywhere in the
system.

1A Auto Parts says:

@Redlinesixtynine You’re welcome.

1A Auto Parts says:

If you have the dealer run your VIN number they would be able to tell you.

Your 2001 Chevy Astro has a different shift motor, the process to remove it
may be different on your vehicle. We carry the shift motor on our website
