I have an 03 s10 zr2 and when i go into 4hi or lo and start driving it is a really loud clunk coming from the front passenger side of my truck. i’ve been told it could be a vacuum leak, but i’ve also heard its my transfer case. have any opinions about it?

I have a cable I wanna work back and forth in you’re girl?

Jose Cervantes says:

will the light come on if the 4 wheel drive actuator does not work

Isaac Tory.. says:

Ok, well my actuator wont DISengage….whats wrong

jason smith says:

thank u very much, it acts like its kinda stuck half way in, your videos are awesome to, I wouldn’t have had any ideas where to even start thanks to this I think I found my issue 🙂

Mark Jenkins says:

E It could just be that the cable is rusted. I don’t have a video on it, but I have disconnected the other side to test for free movement. It’s not that bad. You don’t have to get into the front diff. to remove the other end mof the cable. From what I understand the cable being rusted is pretty common.

L.A. Shadz says:

hey Mark I’m so glad i found you. question i just got my jimmy radiator repaired because it had a hole in it from something stickin in it and a whole in it. when i received it back it seemed like it did not want to move when i put it in drive or reverse. after awhile of driving ok. but it still has a slow take off. is there anything i should be worried about? thanks

jason smith says:

my 97 keeps pulling that cable out of the part that uses vacuum, seems cable is very hard cannot pull it by hand and seems to be partly stuck in 4×4 and suggestions?

shari mangan says:

My 97 blazier slt made a clunking noise then the front started jumping up and down. Almost like a pulsing …couldnt go faster than 15mph… then the rear drive shaft came out and it sounded like I should take cover… 🙂 ummm so a tranfer case problem?
Thanks

I get stuck in 4 low…. I don’t know if my 4×4 works on my 2003 gmc Sonoma but don’t feel anything when put in 4 high but when I put it in 4 low I go neutral then push button then put in drive my truck jerks forward is that it actually engaging? when I switch back to 4 high I go neutral 4 HI it clicks and that’s it but when go back to 2 HI it does nothing…. Please help

Mark Jenkins says:

Is the clunking coming from under the drivers side? It could be the transfer case or encoder motor on the t-case.

karlos Payne says:

I cant seem to get out of 4×4 if i put it on 2×4 i hear some loud clunking noise
anyone help>

richard ursomarso says:

Hey there, I am actually stuck in 4low. The vacuem line is getting suction.

jimandjessicacrisp says:

Hey Mark, great how to. I’ve been through mine and still having issue. Replaced dashboard switch, replaced cable and actuator. For a while it was working. However then I started getting back pressure and trans fluid pushing out my vacume lines and back into the actuator which degraded the rubber and popped two of them. As near as I could tell vacume switch failed and allowed trans fluid to somehow be moved past. Replaced Switch now, but dash has yellow 2wd light on, and no motor click no 4wd?

Robert Young says:

Mark, Is it possible to put too much oil in my 2000 Blazer 4WD? I did will it come out of a overflow or will I have to drain the oil out and start over? Will it hurt the engine?

Jeremiah tate says:

could be your first problem, check the hose… after I replaced the hose my 4×4 still would not lock so next I moved to the actuator, I put the blazer in neutral, switched from 2hi to 4hi as I had my friend squeeze the actuators suction cup looking thing and the 4×4 went right into gear without problem… found out my actuator was sticking and not moving freely so that was my second problem. After replacing the actuator ($50 at oreillys) and fixing the hose, my blazers 4×4 doesnt miss a beat

Jeremiah tate says:

ALL Blazer drivers, I drive a 2000 blazer LT… My 4×4 would shift but not lock and the light would blink much like many of yours did. I never did find the vacuum switch on top of the transfer case and was told my model of blazer did not have one. But what I did do was take out the battery and pan like this video showed. I unplugged the hose from the actuator after disassembling the bracket from the body and checked the hose to make sure it had vacuum. My vacuum hose had been rotted so that

i am having the same issue in my 2001 jimmy. yesterday while i was driving on the highway my car kicked in to 4w hi with 4w lo flashing, so i pulled off, threw it back into 2w hi. it happened 2 other times on a 40 mile drive.
i replaced the t-case about 20k ago, replaced the module acouple yrs ago(it was used tho) i suspect the module.
also, have some steering issues when in 4×4. i can’t turn very tight and it makes noise.
Please Help.

Collin Brownrigg says:

I have a problem with my GMC Sierra. when Im moving along and i want to shift to 4wH, I shift to neutral and move my shifter. but it makes a noise similar to a missed gear shift on a manual. is this a problem on a transfer case? please help

S-Dub Lorenzo says:

Mark, great video! I have a good one for you though…my 03 zr2 has had the transfer case switch replaced because it went bad and allowed trans fluid into the vacuum lines, it has now blown out 2 heat and air control switches and continues to hiss and blow fluid all over my ash tray and inside the bottom dash. If trans fluid has circulated through the whole vacuum system, what in the world can I do?! have you dealt with this before? please help!

Stacy Tapley says:

When I investigated my vacuum acuator was stuck in. I then pulled the vacuum line and it popped back out. I have watched your video and understand that it is more then likely the vale on the TF case. My question to you is….can iIjust leave the line off the acuator until i replace the valve.??? And if so should I plug the vacuumline temporaily???

thom dauphin says:

it’s the switch

Ian Thrasher says:

1997 blazer.Front end Rubbing noise in 2wd. Put in 4×4 rubbing noise goes away. Vacuum switch? Trans case? Wheel bearing?
